Greetings from Sweden!
« on: October 28, 2014, 03:19:08 PM »
Hello!
I´m a 36-year old female pony lover from the south of Sweden. I live in a big country house with my wife, our five kids and four rabbits.
My favourite toys as a child in the 80´s was My Little Pony, but unfortunately my parents thought them too costly, so I only had my five loved ones; Tickle, Peachy (with the Pretty Parlor), baby Cotton Candy, Moon Dancer and Powder. I´ve kept them in pristine condition until my daughter got a hold of them and played hair dresser with a pair of scissors  :(.
Now I´m indulging myself with trying to replace them, and also starting to collect all the g1 ponies I dreamed of as a child.
Apart from this, my biggest interest are music from the 60´s and 70´s, singing, writing Music and I also watch lots and lots of Movies. Horror movies are my favourite and the past year I´ve watched over 200 horror movies. It´s safe to say I´m partly crazy :-)

Well, thats all for now. Happy to join y´all!

Welcome  gredelingrrrl! Your household sounds lively and lovely ^.^

If your childhood ponies are otherwise in good condition, you could always consider rehairing them in original colors, that's what I have done with couple of my childhood ponies. It's not everyone's cup of tea though, some prefer completely original hair and some don't mind new hair.

Thank you Uninu! Yes, re-hairing sounds better to me than replacing, since I really love my old ponies and want my original Peachy to live in her own Pretty Parlor :-)
Better check some tutorials on Youtube, I guess :-)

Welcome to the Arena!

Very full and loving family you have there :)

I know what you mean about only having a few - all of mine used to be thrift store or flea market finds with my pocket money as we couldn't afford brand new ones growing up.  Now as an adult we can make up for that.  Good luck with your hunt! :lovey:

Welcome to the arena! Totally agree with you on the rehairing thing if the haircuts are too terrible. There are a lot of tutorials and if you get confused just ask, I'm sure someone here will be more than happy to give you some pointers.
Childhood ponies definitely hold a different place in our hearts than a replacement would.

Thanks a million for the warm welcome, and the tips :-) I sure can use them since it´s always a bit confusing navigating in a new forum.
I recieved my first second hand pony in the mail yesterday and immediately took to grooming her and ridding her of tail rust. It feels so good to be playing with the little sweethearts again!

Hi and welcome to the Arena

I never had many ponies when I was little either (usually one for my birthday and one for Christmas) so I know just what you mean about making up for lost time now. I am sure you house will be filled with ponies in no time :D :D

Enjoy the forums :frolic:

Hi, gredelingrrrl! Welcome to the arena!

What a wonderful family you have! Sorry to hear that your daughter got a hold of your childhood girls, but they can always be restored to full glory. Pony hair is very tempting to cut, I used to do it as well >_< I'm sure your herd will start to grow now that you've joined us, enjoy the forums!
