Nowadays I am usually a bit picky when buying in the first place. There are lots of ponies in my collection which are less than perfect, and they sit happily on the shelves. HOWEVER.... if a duplicate inadvertently makes its way over in a lot or something then a bit of decision making goes on and I usually keep the better pony
I don't upgrade, I just buy the "nicer" one and display them together! ...then also buy that other one in less-than-stellar condition and they can be triplets! And that's the story of how Chi ends up with 4746283846 Tulip butts.
