But most collectors used "symbol", which is what I prefer. "Symbol" sounds important, signficant, and dignified.  "Cutie mark" sounds insignificant and kind of porn star-ish.

Imagine if they called the designs "Tramp stamp"...

Not to me, but then I have a sentimental attachment to the term (and personally do find it dignified myself).  Damn, I prommised myself I wouldn't do this...
I will confess to being a brony, but I assure you that the things you may not like about them do not apply to me, I mostly keep the fandom name due to nostaligia, but I do genuinely love MLP as a whole, not just FIM, and not just the popularity of FIM - I genuinely love the show (and all the others)

I've heard more than a few haters use that term.
I spent five years learning Atmospheric Science on the university level.  I come out of it with the ultimate knowledge of the universe.  √10 * π ≈ 10.

"Cutie mark" always makes me think of that line from the movie too :P

I prefer the term symbol any day!

I have always hated the term "cutie mark" but like that now I can think of Dot when I hear it!!
