What to do with OLD customs....
« on: August 28, 2014, 11:49:23 AM »
hi all!!!
i´m been thinking.....i have a lot of customs on my shelf, made by me....they have around 2 years from now and i don´t want them around me for more time. Were listed many times  on ebay and  nothing.
I just wondering....what do you do with your non sold customs? kill them and do new ones???? (lol remake them) should i consider them as "new" baits?
I reduced their prices, did promotions.... and nothing, and i don´t want to give them for free anymore, and raffles aren´t my thing because people always want more prizes.

What would you do?

Keep them :) They will sell in the end ;) I have had some customs for a good few years before they have found homes.

keep! I've seen a couple still for sale I wouldn't mind having one day....but I don't have the $ right now for them. They will eventually find homes.

I'd suggest trades, if you really don't want to keep them around. I'm with PKW - sometimes the 'right' buyer doesn't find your pony for a long time, even though some of them may sell lickety-split! But if you really hate keeping them around, I'd put out feelers for a 'trade' pony; show the ponies you have, and request what kind of custom you'd like in return. Or, a pile of baits! Plenty of people have bait ponies they'd send you for one of your lovely customs, I'm sure!

Unless something was seriously wrong with it, it seems a waste to re-customize one of your lovely designs!

I recently remade an old custom that never sold into something completely new and it makes me so much happier (it was my least favorite custom I've ever done).

I agree that Etsy is way better than EBay for customs. They also might just need different photos to make them fly off the shelves or a new hairdo (or even hair color if its serious). With the holidays coming up people might be shopping more.

I love your customs. I'm kinda broke right now but I'd be totally open to doing a swap with you! :D

I had a couple of my old customs that were just sitting around taking up space and I actually had some friends take 'em to a convention for me where they had a table, and sold them at a bit of a discount (since they were old and I really just wanted to liquidate them). Not sure if you're into the convention scene, but if you have enough that might be an alternative too!

Sometimes I give them away as gifts. I have recycled a few of my beginner customs in to newer ones.
Your customs are beautiful Ambar, I can't imagine that you have any sitting around that haven't sold! Best of luck getting them cleared out.

I'm on the same page as you. I can't even get a £10 for some of my old ones or new ones. But if you keep trying you do soemtimes get lucky and sell them on yoiu just the right person atthe right time with the money. You may need to think about lowering your prices unfortunatly people have less money to go around at the moment.

I would definitely do trades - It's what I'm having to do.  I can barely sell them by now.  I guess the market is just slow right now, but trades are always nice!  I know I would buy if I could, but I am low on cash, hence why I am trying to sell, LOL!

Please don't kill them!

I agree Etsy is better than ebay for custom stuff. Trades is a good idea-  or you can mail them to meeeeee!

Your ponies are really beautiful, I have a few already :D
