I'm going back to school

I'm so nervous!!!  I'm starting my second university of applied sciences degree next Tuesday. I've been on pins and needles since I got the acceptance letter. I was accepted to study design as one of the 20 people taken in this year, so I'm feeling quite a lot of pressure. Will I be good enough? What is it actually that these people see in me? Do I really have that kind of potential? Also I am 25 years old, so I'm a bit afraid of if this degree too will be kind of a miss as the last one I did was and I'll push it trough just to achieve nothing - again.

At the same time I'm really excited to get started on this. I don't have any expectations considering the degree, but I do have this secret dream of my own business of designing, manufacturing and selling my own products.  I hope I'll do well in the school and that the school can keep me motivated. I went to see the student's spring exhibit this year and the things they had made looked like so much fun, really looking forward to all the new things I'm going to learn.

I went back to school when 27 and I haven't regretted it And I'm still so further from my dream or goal, it's almost depressing, but I'm not giving up. That's essential you know? Not giving up and having faith in yourself, no matter what - knowing your worth and that you're in a certain place because you deserve it and worked hard to get there.

There will be days when you'll be angry with the school and yourself, doubting yourself and your decision. But they will pass. I'm sure you'll have fun and that you will get more new experiences that will make you excited not only about the present, but also about the future. Believe in yourself - if you were chosen, it was for a reason. Don't doubt yourself - it's destructive and won't lead you anywhere

It sounds like a degree like that would defenitely help you achieve your goals, and you're obviously talented to be picked as one of just 20! Just throw yourself in, we'll all be here rooting for you and cheering you on!

Long gone are the days where students pick a major in school and stick with it all the way through.  Long gone are the days where employees stay with a job for more than 4.5 years...and long gone are the days where people even stay in one CAREER field for very long.  Don't worry about your age or that this is your second degree.  If anything all of that may make your more marketable in this economy.  You're more mature, more experienced, and will have multiple degrees (which is a lot of what employers look for...the piece of paper)!   Also, you mentioned perhaps owning your own designing business one day -- every bit of schooling can help you inch closer to achieving that dream!

I'm glad you took a risk, and I'm sure it will pay off for you.  Being 1 of 20 accepted means that the school ALREADY thinks very highly of you.  They wouldn't have selected you if they didn't feel like you were worthy eough.

Everyone has nerves and second guesses themselves when they make these types of moves, so know you are not alone!  Work hard and you will reap the benefits!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
