FISHIES!

before moving up the coast some years ago I used to be big into fish.
unfortunately  there was no space for my set up at the new house and I had to move on  all of my gear.
it was sad  as I was  very invested in the fish breeding hobby.

now  more than 4 years later  I  finaly have another tank set up.
its only a small one  set up in the kitchen (mums idea)  but  i've got control over it,  so I set it up with some of the fish that  inspiered me to get so into it in the first place.

some Betta Chonnoides.
I've always loved wild type "fighters"  particularly the  mouth brooders,
and I was fortunate enough to find someone locally who breeds these  fantastic fish.

congrats! i have some fish only gold fish though and we lost one the other week as it was so hot it took the air ot the water so fast that one died !!!!!!:(

Yay fish! I only have a small tank as well, just 5 gallons, but it's just the right size for my lone betta. They're such great fish. Congrats on your new additions

Aww... Fishies! We had a blue betta several years ago, and she was really beautiful. She lived quite some time, too. Most memorable for me, though, was my goldfish as a child. I think he was supposed to be raised in a bigger tank than we had for him, but he was such a sweetie and would always come up to the front of the tank and wiggle around when I came up. =)

Best of luck with your breeding hobby, should you ever choose to go for it again.

im trying to avoid getting back in to breeding fish, I tend to "hoard" them .
part of why i had to  let everything go when we moved,  i had a whole green house   full of nothing but  fish  in various aquariums,   I tend to go a bit over board with it.   since moving up the coast ive  focused more on breeding  pythons, and that hobby take up  just as much room as  the fish set up did.

so  keeping this is  sort of a display tank,   again it was originally mums idea to have one in the kitchen,
but as im the one doing the 'looking after'     I get to  set it up with what  I want for it.

so i figure  why not go for something a little more unusual and unappreciated.

and yeah this species of Betta  represents something special for me

I has fishies too 

Here is Sluggles. He was my favorite but he died about 2 weeks ago  I drove him from Alaska to New York in the dead of winter. He was a sympathy purchase from walmart and was in VERY bad shape. Most of his fins were rotted away, he had rapid gill movement and an ammonia level through the roof.

I got him like 2 weeks before I moved. By the time I made it to NY, he was perfectly fine

I currently have 2 clown plecos, one male and one female betta, and one comet goldfish that seriously needs a tank upgrade. Or a pond. There is also one trapdoor snail, one big magenta apple snail and one tiger nerite.
I would have more tanks if I could. I have a friend who breeds splendid's and some other wild type that I am not even going to attempt to spell. Smar - something-or-other

2 species that were part of my original set up before the move.
I'd love to work with them both again.
but then  that right there is where things would get  over board for me.
I'd want to start breeding them,
and breed lots of them!.

a few pairs of this and that can very quickly turn into a few hundred odd fish.
I'm not set up for anything like that  presently  at all.    mostly its an issue of space.
