As to starting early, I am waiting on a few people who are currently away, but should be back before the proposed deadline.  So even though I'd love to.  I'm waiting.  I do already have some ideas about pairing though. he he he

When I was talking about starting the festivities early, I just meant getting a conversation about anime going early to help get us all pumped. I wouldn't want the swap to start earlier than the given date because then some people may miss out, and the more the merrier

but ive read a ton of different ones and appreciate them all for different reasons. i tend to gravitate to a certain art style (Chobits, Inu, Ah My Goddess...) and if the story is a bit melancholy and sad all the better!


eta: just remembered Petshop of Horrors! another good/usually sad-ish one!

Whoa, I've never heard of Return to Labyrinth!  Looks promising 

I really liked reading the Black Jack series, I guess that might be my favorite, and I also like Yotsuba&! quite a bit.  Right now I'm reading Fullmetal Alchemist and it is good, has anyone read that?  I understand it is a pretty popular series.

When I was in college, I worked in the library and we had a large collection of Osamu Tezuka's manga and I used to look at it all the time.  Unfortunately I couldn't read Japanese so I had to just guess what everyone was saying

Yes. Yes I have. I have many feelings about it. I was actually just coming to this thread to comment that while I won't be participating in the swap, y'all are tempting me and I'm starting to think I might need a pair of Mustang and Hawkeye ponies.

I personally prefer the manga ending to Chobits over the anime version. Don't get me wrong, it's a tiny difference but I liked the emotional impact of the mangas better, they re-released it a little while back in two $20 omnibuses, so I highly recommend tracking them down if you're interested! Im sure amazon has them used for even cheaper. =)

If ONLY I knew Japanese!!! It's something I wish for all the time but just don't have the money or energy to learn. I live a stones throw from Mitsuwa, a massive Asian grocery/minimall that has a huge bookstore... Not in English... Row after row after row of manga with pretty covers and i don't understand a lick of it! It's torture!!

Haven't picked up any manga in ages, apart from the occasional omnibus of something I've read and liked, it's just so pricey especially on Michaels pay lol... But it JUST occurred to me... Amazon prime... I may be onto something!!

Misao sees things that other people can't. Normally, the monsters would do harmless things. But suddenly, on her sixteenth birthday, the creatures she sees take it farther by trying to kill her. For me, before there was a pony army, there was and shall always be my Chocobo army (the adorable birds from the Final Fantasy series) lol. Though I can't understand a bit of the books, the art work is adorable and I feel like I have a loose grasp of what could be going on just from the pictures in book one. From there I'm completely lost though because I'm missing all the even numbered books, so when I leaf through book three things stop making any sense

Oh!  I made the list!  I didn't realize I was in!  Woo hoo!  Making my list was fun and reminded me of so many favorites that I had forgotten!  Can't wait to see my partner's list.  I hope my partner will find something they would like to work with (and maybe watch) on mine!
