This is not the weapon I would have chosen to give Pinkie! Seems unwise, yes?

$65 for that thing? Unless I'm not seeing it right, it's a tiny figure or is it a poster?

This got posted over in the main SDCC thread as well, unfortunately I am sticking to what I said there :P I really do not like. I do understand that its got a very specific market and lots of people who are going to love it of course. But sometimes for me crossovers or parodys dont work...just in my opinion this is one of them.

I also am not a fan of the fact that some MLP fans are getting cease & desist orders over things which do not make them money [or at least not any significant amount] and yet companies can just skip on past a license and make money from the brand, at an event which should be free of this kind of thing. :/

However its sure going to be loved by some!

I do wonder what Hasbro thought of that thing, and if they knew of it before that company released a picture.  I do note that the packaging is very careful not to use any words/names or images that would actually trigger a clear infringement, although I think it is pretty obvious what they are doing there.   For all we know, the company might have (or might soon) receive a C&D.

I also agree it is ugly.  The figure itself, and the fact that it is holding a gun? I've never liked toy guns, figures holding guns, or ... well guns of any sort.  I don't like toys that glamorize guns either.  I know this isn't aimed at kids, but it still is distasteful to me and in no way funny.

Good point on the C&D.

And its the gun which annoys me as well. Mainly because I just dont see the need for guns to ever be a part of any toy line [even though this is not a toy] - its still putting a gun in the hands of a character which is aimed at kids. Just feels tasteless. However I am pretty sure I ll be in the minority :P

I don't really get the name. Why not "Rambony"?
I don't like it anyway. The art is fugly and the whole thing has "trying too hard" written all over it.

Well I see what you tried to do there but, no, I don't think it quite hit the amusement mark.

When I was a kid, I put a white Barbie wedding dress on a He-Man action figure. I called him She-Man. Endless amusement ensued. We were totally BFFs.

I think that's the part of me that really likes Rambo!Pinkie. It's not something that I would buy, but the fact that it exists definitely makes me giggle.

A C&D is an expensive thing to put out there. It's not just a matter of a company saying, "I don't like that thing. Let's write an email." Given that the run of this thing is so tiny, I don't think Hasbro would consider it worth the time. On top of that, this isn't "fanart" in the traditional sense. It's probably safe within the realm of parody, which is protected to some degree.

I think that the reaction here proves that its existence isn't a threat to Hasbro's sales in the least.  :P
