Con + thrift finds! Birthday update: now with 20% more prototypes!

At the con I found a table selling g3 and g1 ponies and proceeded to spend all my con money there over the course of 3 days. Yes, I said g1. MY FIRST!!! G1S!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Their prices were super reasonable and hey were super nice ;u; they have a vintage toy store, which I'll definitely be checking out in the future.

I also got g3 Starsong, Rainbow Dash and slh Rarity, and g1 Sunshine(Sunlight?), who I'm currently defrizzing in the spa.

Butterscotch has a haircut, Sunny Daze has a head/body mismatch, Baby Firefly has some dark spots around her mouth, Sundance has some faded pink highlighter marks, nearly all of them have some kind of spots I was unable to successfully remove, and Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Starsong have the frizziest hair I've ever come across, but overall they're in great condition and display wonderfully.

By the way, does anyone know how to use fabric softener on a pony's hair? The 3 g3s I mentioned aren't responding to conditioner (Starsong has had easily 4 baths and looks no better for it) and I'm beginning to get desperate. Any ideas?

G3 prototypes!

I have a huge weakness for prototypes, and was absolutely delighted to receive these two.
I also got a Lyra Rays, who hasn't yet come in the mail.

  Lovely    I think if you want to use fabric softener, you just dunk the hair and let it sit for some time, then rinse.  I've had success taking super-frizzy hair and using a flat iron- you have to do it with the hair very wet and covered in conditioner but it makes a great difference.  Absolutely can't do it with tinsel, however, or other special hair types.

Hi, and welcome! Congratulations on your ponies, Sunrise Song is gorgeous! You have quite a few of my favourites in there too. Just a heads up, did you know about not getting water inside them, especially the G1s? They have a metal washer holding the tail in that rusts easily. There are loads of good threads and tutorials on the Arena to help deal with those issues you mentioned if you feel like having a go. A lot of good info over at 'themylittleponypreservationproject' as well.

Thanks for the advice, Radha and Artemesia  Starsong and Rarity have tinsel, so the flat iron won't work for them, but I could try it on RD! And yes, I am aware of the tail rust problem (my Starbeam has it horrifically bad) but I'm afraid that I'll ruin them in trying to fix it  if any more of mine get it, I'll have to look into removing it.

Also, my birthday was yesterday, and I gained some more small horses, so I'll add to my first post once I get good pictures.

What lovely choices, and your G1's are just wonderfully classic! I know people say not to use a flat iron on tinsel hair, but I've done it many many times and have never had a problem Make sure there's LOTS of conditioner on the hair, do small sections at a time,  and rewet it with every pass of the iron. I've tamed some pretty frazzed and crazy hair with or without tinsel! Oh, and never let the iron sit on the hair...just keep it moving smoothly and quickly through the hair.
You could also try boiling water if you haven't already. Dunk the hair in hot, boiling water, then quickly remove and lay her on her side on the counter. Brush her hair straight back (like it's blowing in the wind) and let it cool. If it still needs another treatment, do it till you're happy! Be careful with bright colored hair, though, as the color can bleed a little and it could stain a white pony
Oh, and be carelul not to burn yourself
