Did anyone notice the commercials clearly show 1-2 goldfish for the Teddy Tanks but everyone else they say only 1 Beta Fish should be used?  If anyone buy this for their kids I can already see the kids wanting more than one fish in the bowl because the commercial shows them with more fish.

This is just cruel. :( Plus, I really don't like the idea of teaching children that it's okay to think of their pets as toys. As a living creature, a fish deserves to be respected, just as a cat or a dog.

Now I do think it would be really cute, as others have said, to use them for storage. I'd love to fill one with colored sand or those sparkly garden gems for decor. But I'm not buying one. I'm not going to encourage these people by handing them money as if to say that this is okay.

This is a gross idea in both animal care and sanitary reasons.

Of course, now I'm imagining a teddy bear the size of an actual aquarium with a full filter jammed in its brain and a bubbler sticking out its butt.
I'll put something here some time

I must've seen this commercial a hundred times while I nanny, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had these thoughts! Definitely looks like the fish won't be able to breathe, and it's grody to put fish food through the stuffed animal's mouth. I think it's so weird that they say "Your grandchild will play with it every day!" in the voiceover. Kids don't normally "play" with their fish bowls or storage containers; I can't see that happening.

I dunno why they didn't just market it as a bank, "Feed the bear money and watch your savings grow".

Much better idea!

:( What a twisted creation... can you imagine if a kid decides to bring his "toy" into bed to cuddle at night?!

This idea is not very original. It was invented in 1945 (by MGM)...

The Teddy Tank commercial started to come on twice in my area this weekend. Both times the logo came up and the commercial started. However before it started it was replaced by another commercial so by the time the other commercial was over so was the Teddy Tank one because they went to a different commercial

 >_< why must they use goldfish and bettas for all these stupid tanks?
My bettas must be in heaven being in 5 and 10 gallon tanks with weekly water changes and heaters.

I left a review on amazon as well.  Nobody should buy this. It teaches kids to treat their pets as toys, and it is cruel, plain and simple.

What I meant to say was the Teddy Tank commercial came on twice in my area this weekend. Both times only the logo was shown. Right after the logo appeared my cable company cut off the Teddy Tank commercial  and went to a different one. Instead of re-running the Teddy Tank commercial when the commercial that cut in was over they went to a different commercial.

I guess it's a good thing that the cable company did that since it probably means less kids will want it until it shows up in retail stores.

Glad I'm not the only one upset at this!

It doesn't look like a suitable place for fish and the stuffed animal mouth seems impractical for food since it would get all gross.
They should've designed it more as a toy than a pet house. Thankfully they do advertise alternate uses but the "designed as a fish bowl" thing doesn't sound like it would be that good of a toy (something to carry, securely hold stuff, take places, etc.)
Kind of like http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/secretkeepins.htm

My thoughts exactly!  For these reasons and more I cringe every time I see that commercial. I always think, poor fish, and how the heck are you going to keep that from getting disgusting?

Oh well that's interesting- it would be odd for a network to cut add time, since it is bought and paid for, but maybe they got a lot of complaints or something.  If that is the case then that is definitely for the best.

I like the idea to use it as a bank or something to store things in. (like lego or marbles) but to use it as a fish bowl it's just cruel!
