How do you display those 'special ponies'?

I do hope I'm not the only one with this situation- I have several nirvana and a couple customs that are just special. Typically my ponies are displayed in sets/by year, but it doesn't seem right to just shove my, say, Brazilian Minty amidst the US FFs I have. So what's your solution? Do you have ponies that just don't fit in, or are too special to be on a shelf with the others? How do you display them?

I display my special ponies together. Nirvana's I display by country (I don't have many, so for now just putting them together is ok). In the past I had the special ones in a glas cabinet :-)

I have a small display cabinet in out lounge. It has my favourite and rare ponies in it

I keep customs and special ponies with problems in their own display cabinet - partially so I can see them, and partially because I'm not entirely trusting that their paintjobs will hold up, on the customs.  All of the customs I made in my younger years are probably ~15 years old and show it in some cases.  I wouldn't want them to accidentally transfer paint to my collection.

I don't have nearly enough ponies to display by sets or year, and they're all split up over many shelves. I do keep my favourites together, or separate very special ponies so they stand out more, and customs have a shelf to themselves.
My Macau Jenny is next to my CC Cotton Candy, and I have a selection of G1s amongst the majority of my G4 herd. I also have a funny habit of displaying my G1s in a pattern that goes: Big Brother/Buttons Pose/Big Brother/Buttons Pose/etc... I don't know why I have so many Buttons Pose ponies, I didn't use to like the post, but I do love the boys! 

Basically I just display in a way that is aesthetically pleasing to me. I have no intention of collecting them all, just those I find the most lovely.

I don't have enough space to properly organise my ponies. I did have a self for regular and a shelf for nirvana but the regular soon filled up and joined the nirvana ponies.
I try to keep them with similar ponies, like my four mountain boys are together and ponies in the collector pose are too

I have a ten litre box full of my ponies in the loft, as I physically don't have the room in my bedroom to display them (afterall bedrooms are for sleeping and getting dressed anyway ) So I keep my 'super special' rarities (not G4 rarity, I mean HTF or rare ponies) or display, dotted around my room. I also collect beautiful modern boxes, so I display ponies on or around those.

I only keep the super special ones out, some have to live in my wardrobe because I don't want them in the loft, and I do want to see them every time I open my wardrobe door!

Special ponies get to stay on my computer desk in the corner. I don't have many super rare / special ponies, so they fit together nicely

My only Nirvanas are Poseys, and they're displayed with the other Poseys together on one tier of my shelf. The only other pony with any kind of special placement is my NSS Wind Whistler. She's very special to me, so she stands on a very small shelf just inside my bedroom door, kind of like she's guarding it!

I don't have a lot of super rare and expensive ponies. The priciest I have is Mimic and I like to imagine that she's happiest mingling with her fellow ponies.

I have my special ones in the front by the glass and the not so special ones in the back. I also have all my generations in different curios.

Most of my collection is in the 3rd bedroom (aka the pony room) just organized by generation. My specials - childhood ponies, customs, and more expensive ones - are in the china cabinet downstairs, so they are more protected but also more on display.

I've downsized to only keep my special ponies which live in a glass cabinet and I have a few in doll safe cases on top of it and they are great for special ponies if you don't have a glass cabinet

I have one shelf in my house, and it has about 1/4 of my ponies. Nirvanas and other specials are with everyone else. Atleast for now.

I keep my special ponies (Sunburst and Cutesaurus) under glass domes!
