Fifty bucks for something I could buy in the store for $10 ... ooookay... what a bargain!

Not very impressed. It's cute, but it's not $50 cute. It was better than last year's lame duck, at least, but ... I almost felt like last year's was actually worth most of the big ticket price. She had a light up base! She had crystals! She was a display piece that looked nice and sparkly! This one has ... what, exactly?

Sadly, I almost feel like the Equestria Girl looks better. And that's saying something. @_@;

I'm hoping to be proven wrong, because I'm a completionist, and I'm gonna be hunting for this one online after SDCC, I'm sure. What a shame! I miss our art ponies so much!

As a note, we are not adding the summary to the top of the thread. It kind of defeats the purpose of the thread if people cant make their own thoughts and comments on the issues raised Summarising as though its a conclusion makes it seem like its a collective opinion, I think I have seen enough additional comments which means not everyone is 100% on board with everything supposedly concluded.

We dont summarise...and effectively kill threads by almost saying "this is the truth...now go with it Arena peeps". People can join this discussion and ask whatever they wish, when they wish. Any summary of the situation - if its anything other than "this is the Fair/SDCC exclusive" - is by its nature personal opinion [even if agreed with by many].

The summary kind of implies that "we have discussed this and agreed this...so move on". Its a long thread but no longer than some others out there - people just need to read to catch up. Whats the harm in asking about things or raising issues which have been discussed earlier?

Gosh that Jem doll is so cute!
I remember last years(?) Jem doll being around the same price, so I am not surprised. Not sure if I would pay that much for her, though.

Well she isn't actually manufactured by Hasbro and it's not like there is a current Jem line for them to promote right now. That could of course change next year after they release the new movie.

Which is a shame considering the original Jem dolls were better quality than Barbies at the time.  It was that thought that made me hope the EqG dolls would be really good quality especially since they were to compete with Monster High.  I was certainly in for a shock.

Honestly they've improved on the quality of the EQG dolls a lot. I still think the first dolls were just rushed out to take advantage of the holidays. After all nobody wants to do what Playmates did with Rainbow Brite. They released them right after the holidays and because of that they failed miserably. Also Hasbro's SSC dolls were of decent quality even if they were a wee bit on the pricy side.

one thing I noticed with the EQGs is that I haven't really seen any new Deluxe Dolls.. Like the fully articulating Dash and FS from the first wave.. but then again I might not have been paying attention

My new Celestia doesn't have joints, unfortunately. I like her more and more, though...yet i still don't like the others, except maybe the CMC's. I think this new doll is pretty wicked, though maybe they should have packed them together, the way they did with Celestia and her pony-likeness, and Twilight with her pony-likeness I think that would be MUCH more appealing, take less packaging, and cost less to produce...

When looking at the exclusive pony i thought she might have twistable moveable hair pieces out of plastic which would have been ROCKIN' and justified the price a little more :/
