Deflocked Ribbon, FF Blue Belle, Glow
« on: April 28, 2014, 09:59:08 AM »
So first off I want to show off my deflocked Ribbon. I did it myself so I can't say it's totally perfect but for the first pony I've deflocked I'm quite pleased. I gave her about 3 hot oxy clean baths which seemed to get the flocking and most of the glue debirs off. I ended up using acetone to get the last visible glue fog off of her body. I managed to not damage her hair, eyes, or symbols but I almost destroyed the blush on one side of her face with the acetone.

I have always loved Ribbon ever since my older brother had BBE Ribbon. And since there isn't a regular adult Ribbon (that I know of) I had to deflock her.

When I boiled my water on the stove and added the oxy clean it resulted in a classic 'science class volcano'. It got all over the stove and floor. I've learned from this and do it in the sink now. It was quite funny.

This was after one bath and scrub.

And finally I finished the project!!

Next up I got Glow off of ebay recently. ALL of the Glows had massive spots of cancer on their right sides and I was quite sad. And then this gem showed up.

Better than cancer, eh? Well, yes, because when I took her out of her packaging it scraped right off with my finger nail! I am thrilled!

And this last one I just got on Friday. This is Blue Belle. The photo on ebay didn't show it but she had a small black spot on her right cheek that looked suspiciously like a sharpie mark. Her body was also kinda discolored from dirt/age. So I gave her an oxy bath. The black spot came off eventually and you can kinda see a shadow of where it was. Some of the grime also came off and nothing got damaged!

The spot is right..... there.... Go ahead, try to find that spot shadow on the cheek.

I also must say I am very impressed with those that re-hair ponies. Just trying to get their own tails back in was a serious pain. Blue Belle was fine but Ribbon I ended up having to tape the end of her tail into a point and was about ready to use needle nose pliers to pull her tail through because it's thicker than the hole it's suppose to go into. You guys get serious points for doing that stuff regularly!

I couldn't believe the ink marks scraped right off. I was really hoping I would be able to scrub them off and if I couldn't it would at least be better than huge cancer spots. I feel pretty lucky that it turned out perfectly.

I'm also really surprised that the sharpie mark came off of Blue Belle, it took some serious fingernail scrapping and I ruined my nails but it was worth it.  :P I have some lil' litters that I got years ago that came with sharpied paw prints on their sides and I wish I had thought to soak them in something like oxy clean before I attempted to paint over the marks. I have no idea if I can remove the paint at this point. I may have to go dig through my pony box and pull them out and investigate.
