Why does practically everyone think G3 Rainbow Dash liked fashion?

Forgive me for asking this, and forgive me if this mistake isn't made here.

But I've seen a lot of this lately, people stating as fact that in G3 Rainbow Dash was the fashion pony, when in reality she never once said or did anything fashion related.  The G3.5 version did, but they both behaved very differently, and were no more the same pony than G3 and G4 Rainbow Dashes were.

It doesn't even seem to be just a brony thing (which would make more sense) I might have seen older fans make the mistake too (unless it's still bronies, but ones who want to respect pre-FIM and haven't quite finished researching it yet?)

Didn't she come with a playset with a bunch of plastic clothes?  I hated the plastic clothes so I wasn't paying much attention.

Could that be where it came from?

I'm pretty sure that's how she's depicted in the G3 movies, fancypants accent and all.

I haven't seen the movies, but I used to have a MIB G3 Rainbow Dash and I was sure it said on the box she liked fashion, or at least something to that extent. Maybe I'm forgetting, since it was a while ago?

it was how she was characterized in the books and the lyric in the G3 song
"Rainbow Dash always dresses in style"
and in the G3 DVDs she owns a clothing store I believe

I dunno. Maybe people just assume she's a fashion pony because she's similar in personality to G4 Rarity. Or they're going off her G3.5 descriptions which describe her as a "glamor girl" that other ponies go to for fashion advice.

I haven't seen most of the G3 movies so I can't say.

Yes, she is occasionally shown giving fashion advice, such as when Pinkie Pie asked her for help decorating the castle for a party (much like how Rarity is tapped in FiM when decorating advice is needed). And there are a few hints of her focus on fashion, like in "A Charming Birthday" it says she comes to her party wearing a rainbow like a hair ribbon.

But mostly I think it's the accent she uses. That particular tone of voice is usually assigned to female characters who are 'divas' and one characteristic of that is to be obsessed with fashion and high culture. That's why they gave the same tone of voice to Rarity in FiM.

For voice actors, a tone of voice they use is very telling of what kind of character they are trying to convey. Even if it doesn't come out in their dialog necessarily, you can tell a lot about an animated character by the tone the voice actress chooses to use.

People have trouble telling G3 and G3.5 apart. In G3, her focus is constantly on rainbows. She even grows her own... somehow.

Yes, I think that's what I remember on the box! Something about the other ponies coming to her when they need fashion advice, or admiring her sense of fashion; something more implied like that rather than directly saying "She likes fashion."

I know absolutely nothing about 3.5 RD, so I'm definitely not confusing the two.

If you scroll down to the 2008 Single (Best Friends), it makes a direct mention about fashion.  As well as some of the other entries on that pages.  It seems the fashion stuff comes in on the later years.

Its party because of what she was released with on occasion and the voice & mannerisms; its stereotyped but true. :/

Another note is in runaway rainbow when they went looking for Rarity's home Rainbow Dash brought a cart filled with boxes of what I assumed to be clothes.  Spike asks if she brought enough stuff sarcastically and Rainbow Dash says she believes in being prepared.  I seriously doubt her boxes were filled with actual basic essentials.

I hated it when they changed her voice actress.
