Petites Magic Star & Sundrop
« on: February 28, 2014, 07:19:01 AM »
I really want to complete my petite collection this year, but I'm NOT going to spend $30 each on it....

Have Magic Star & Sundrop (I think that is her name) ever been seen in molded tail versions? It seems like all the other playset ponies come in 2 versions- do the castle ones?

Anyone own the complete petite collection? I want to see a complete collection. How many are there (including variants)? I think I've counted 60+? There are even some with large vs small symbols.

I think I read on Dream Valley that there are 78 (not counting the variants)... And yeah, the Palace ones are surely named Magic Star and Sundrop. No idea if they came with the molded tails though, sorry :(

the palace ones have molded tails on the European castle package so  a prototype was made at some point
but they were NEVER made for distribution with the castle (so sad!)
they do have different names for the european release ;)

all the other playsets have hair and molded versions
then the regular sets

I've not seen larger/small symbols - please show me!
I did a presentation on petites at last year's fair including variants (non-pearly pearly petites, color variant glitter petite), prototypes, g2s, stampers, and the clay molds that created them....but I've never heard of small/large symbol variants

Fun fact:  In the UK they were called Princess Moondust (the orange one) and Kingsley (the white one), and Kingsley was a boy.  :)

Unfortunately as Roogna says no moulded hair versions of this pair in particular even though all the others have variants with moulded and regular hair as you know.

Are the variants you mean the eye variants? All the moulded hair ones come one of 2 ways - they have a smaller eye with white paint in them or larger eyes with no paint [and sometimes look a little smudged].

I have seen and heard of a few complete collections but there are certainly not very many. Excluding the G2s and the eye variants there are 84 in total I believe.

No cat, it is the symbol that I am talking about. Sadly my camera and computer are not talking very well anymore- not to mention trying to get the detail of the symbol size is beyond my expertise.

It is mostly distinguishable on the Parade petites. Some have different color symbols and others have different sized ones. Most noticeable on the teapot, Sun & crayon ones.

... Cat I did look for the eye differences and saw that I have a few of those.

I have 20 more to go... then I have to worry about upgrades...

Oh I knew about some colour/shade differences in the symbols but I was not aware of the size differences. Very cool!

Is there a pattern at all on the symbol size difference? Is it in all moulded hair sets or only certain sets?
