What is "The Slaughterhouse" forum?

I always see it on the menu, but I don't have access there. If I'm not allowed in, shouldn't it be hidden from my view? What kinds of discussions are there, and how many posts do you need for access?

In order to get in to the slaughterhouse you have to request an application, send an application and be accepted after meeting criteria.  I believe applicants must have at least 800 posts, and been an Arena member for at least 8 months.  As well as be over the age of 18.

However, content is not up for public discussion, that's why it is a restricted forum. 

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY:

1 - go to Profile
2 - Group Membership (link on left side)
3 - you should see "Slaughterhouse II" under Available Groups
4 - click Request Membership
5 - Submit

You will be sent the application, and will be required to complete and return it, before your application will be reviewed. Any questions, PM SHIIApplications.

It sounds like that isn't allowed.

I'd kind of always assumed it was for really personal, adult, and/or controversial topics that might require a different kind of moderating. But that's just my guess.

@Tap Dancer: I don't want to know WHAT topics, or who is in it. Just .... yea. I get what I'm saying but others might not.

I obviously don't want to know that badly or I'd just go put in an app for it.

Yes, there is not to be any sharing of SH's content with any non SH member. Whether it's via PM or someone reading over your shoulder or any other method. To do otherwise is to risk getting removed.

What confuses me about it, though, is that not even knowing what it's about makes me wonder why it's even worth the effort to apply for?  I can hardly imagine that it's about just controversial/adult type things, since we see those topics here in WYP.  I'm curious to know the *types* of things that go on in there to know whether or not it would even be a forum that I'd ever participate in/read, but since we aren't even allowed to be told that much, I just assume that it's something that maybe I don't even want to be a part of and try to ignore that it's there.

Me too. LOL. Since I don't have "friends" here (meaning I don't PM people), I hope I'll be accepted. My lips would stay sealed.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to cause trouble. I always thought private forums would be invisible to those who don't have access, but it's probably different depending on the site's software. Years ago I was a mod on a coupons/freebies forum. We had a secret mods-only forum that was invisible to everyone else. They didn't even know it existed.

On days when I'm feeling kind of depressed, I make myself afraid that it's where members go to talk trash about non-SH members here at the Arena (and that thought is absolutely devastating to me).

I'm sure that's not allowed anywhere here. It would be against the rules. Anyway, my question was answered. Please close this thread.

Let's see, if I can give some vague ideas about it. It's a less filtered forum, for more adult content. Or sometimes just sensitive topics you don't really want to share with a large amount of people. Or where younger eyes can read them - no offense meant to our resident younger teens.
