I just saw a preview of this weeks comic and it looks like the year one girls get a cameo this time  you can see the page after the break- I love that they keep slipping them in.

I got to speak to some of the comic authors and artists at a convention not too long ago- several of them are childhood G1 fans or otherwise understand that there are fans out there who appreciate the references. All we need now is some Tales, G2 and G3 references (other than mostly re-purposed names) and we'll have the whole pony family.

When writer / artist Katie Cook came to Big Apple Ponycon last year, she shared that as a child she had many gen one ponies as a child! Her guest bio pic was a photo of a 4-year old Katie asleep on a rug, clutching G1 Bow Tie. Her all time favorite pony is B&G Twisty Tail

Yay, it's always awesome when they slip in the G1 girls ! I love love love the comics. I spend forever reading each issue because I want to catch all the little background things. I recall on one page towards the beginning of the series that they managed to reference Stephen King twice, plus Indiana Jones. I was in geek girl heaven.

I only recently started reading them.. so I'm still on a "majorly impressed squee-y" kick.

Oh I love the comics! Especially finding all the references it is so much fun, I found firefly, surprise, and some men in black ponies!
