Sunspot: Am I missing somenthing?

Its not just Sunspot. I think they just used different hair for the tail. I had a Steamer like this before, I sold him last month though:

Yep, a Steamer I bought a year ago is white haired but has a very pink tail, I thought it was some kind of funny business but his neck is still factory sealed. It's nice to finally know a bit more about why

I had two sunspots when I was little..

One actually had white mane and tail (not faded) and then another I had a white mane and dark dark pink tail! In recent years i've come across opposite ones with white tails and dark pink manes.. and then also finally found one with the full normal pink mane and tail. I think it's just factory errors and maybe some due to fading over the years

I found two sunspots at a goodwill in the 90's. One had a pink mane and white tail, and the other had a white mane and pink tail. Neither were MO as they didn't have the cheek symbol. I switched their tails, but one had gold tinsel and the other silver.

When you think of manufacture it is obvious that the tail and mane would have been done as different steps so it would have been very easy for there to have been different batches of hair. As ashlyne mentioned there is a distinct difference between 2 pinks that we see; one which is super easily faded and one which still fades but much less quickly and only under brighter circumstances. So clearly during manufacture the faded pink hair was used for the manes and the less fading pink [] was used for the tail.

Add happy tails Romper and Squeezer to the list    They will sometimes have mis-matched batches of pink hair too.
