After all, this is a franchise primarily for kids. It's their turn to be the target audience. I don't understand why some people get upset over that. They aren't catering to kids either, they are catering to new fans who don't already have mane 6, and taking the cheapest route possible, meaning no new colors, poses, cutie marks, names, etc.I think that counts as children's marketing. The "new big thing" hits the playground, everybody spends their allowance on it for a few months, interest dies down, the next new thing hits, rinse and repeat. Honestly, the days of every child being Pokemon-obsessed for years on end is over, and the "fad" category rules marketing. A child is more likely to newly discover FiM, be hotly interested in it for a while, and then move on as their interest is lost/they become distracted by something else.Keeping the main show characters on the shelves serves the widest audience, and the "[character] with a new hat" rereleases caters to the kind of person (of any age) who is likely to have a favourite from the show and be interested in picking up as many types of [character] as they can afford - just how many people here on the Arena say they only collect Fluttershy, or Twilight, or whoever else from G4? How many people have armies? To people who follow the minutae of the line year after year it may seem stagnant, but the power of waves of children getting into and out of the brand keeps it rolling over, as well as parents who don't know exactly what a child is into but figure a pony is a safe present that at least won't be rejected. If all adult collectors suddenly dropped off the map, I really don't think the G4 line itself would suffer greatly.

My theory is that the Dazzles are a mob family.
(Once I wrote that Vinyl's mother's name was Surface Scratch, and her mother's name was Record Scratch, and her mother's name was Record Scratch, and her mother's name was Record Scratch, and her mother's name was Record Scratch...)
Too bad they cover up her cutie mark. I'm surprised they chose a color scheme so similar to Sunset Shimmer's for the new antagonist. I mean she is different but still mostly orange... I'd like to see the 2 background girls as ponies and am kinda hoping they will do like they did with Sunset Shimmer last year and release these as pony singles eventually. I would like to see Photo Finish's 2 companions as ponies too.
