Stupid question: why are the classifieds so barren?

I remember that a few years ago it was a good place to find ponies for sale! Much easier than combing every sales topic for a pony. But yeah, now it's like two users. Not bad but it lacks variety like it use to have. So want happened?

I think buyers forget it exists.

Then, sellers who may have had their stuff up there for ages give up.

Part of the problem is one I don't know how to solve - advertising. On the old Arena, there was a sidebar that scrolled the images of things for sale constantly. You'd see it pretty much wherever you go on the Arena. It really attracted a lot of attention (and sales).

Programming isn't my forte, so I'm not sure how to recreate the effect for this Arena. I usually rely on mods and add-ons that other folks have already programmed. I would love it, though! It would probably get much more use.

well if that is the main issue ill see if I can get a programmer friend to write some code or somethin. It would be real nice to have it back as killer feature for the forum.

Yeah, I just updated my sale/trade thread with a TON of stuff.  I write detailed descriptions and include a bunch of pics, so there was WAY too much to fit into one post (there's a limit to the number of characters you can fit into one post).  I ended up using 5 separate posts.  I considered putting my sales in the classifieds instead, but I also got the impression that they just don't get much traffic.  So I opted to just use the regular For Sale section.

I was accepted to sell on the Classifieds but, with my own stores already, listing them there and then going back and trying to list 100+ ponies on the classifieds seems like a ton of work. I do agree though about the picture sidebar, that would really make me stop and check it more than once in a while... though I should one day try to sell on there, since I do love the Arena so much!
