Whats the deal with the pony thats not to be named?

I think the main things people had a problem with were her name, and her voice in the ep. Lauren Faust first called her Ditzy Doo, which I think is cute as heck, so I use that, or simply on here. I do kind of wish she could be reintroduced in a new ep in a way that makes everyone happy!

Not a fan of the name either. I think an internet meme is not the best starting point to name a character.
I also feel they took the character too far. She used to be just cute and clumsy but now...
When she dropped all that stuff in "Feeling Pinkie Keen" she was at least aware of what happened and felt sorry for it. In "The last Round up" she was so oblivious and stupid she hardly noticed that she got electrocuted and that she destroyed a building...The slow, low voice didn't help.
But yeah, i better leave it at that.

I was okay when it was her fan name but it got taken a little too far. When I heard "Ditzy Doo" in...Winter Wrap Up, I believe, I thought it was the cutest name ever and I called that for the longest time. She was the cutest annimation error that evolved into an actual character. Fans of FiM would play a game, "Spot " in the new episodes.


I'm on the side that I can totally see why it is offensive though I don't personally take to it. The name doesn't have a disabled or insensitive connotation for me personally but I can see how it might for others. It was a good decision to make the change on the show and heck, the new voice over was cuter too!

I don't think Hasbro will let the studio bring her back to a speaking role (she IS back in the show as a BG chara and that is where she could stay). If they were to give her another actual speaking role, it would have to be VERY carefully done. Though having her own episode would cream some pants and make a LOT of kids happy (believe it or not a LOT of kids love her! I met a little girl in the store and I told her my favorite was Rarity and she squealed " pony!"), but I don't see it happening any time soon. ((it could be a good moral story though.))

She is a really cute pony, design wise. I'm glad she finally got a brushable. I will eventually get her. Though I'm kinda tired of seeing her plastered all over Hot Topic

I tried to do a search about it but got tons and tons of "for sale" and "wanted" threads. So I googled it and now it all makes sense.

Her fan name is my favorite.  I've never understood the drama, no one in the history of ever has ever gotten angry or mean spirited and called someone that word.  I call my friends that word all the time, and they call me the same, and it's always affectionately.  But that's just my opinion.

Ditto, to be honest. My view is, if it's upsetting people, it's in Hasbro's best interest to change it--who watches a show about brightly colored horses to be upset? The show is candy-colored adorable wholesome goodness, and that's the way it should stay.

Dont worry.

However as you can see we are only 2 pages in and some people find it offensive and other people dont. Its such a hot button that the Arena has gone the way of Hasbro and simply gone with Pony as a nice option which causes no upset.

I am not going to post a warning...I think everyone can take it as read that a Corral mod is simply going to lock this if it even looks like going bad.

However...you never know Maybe this will just stay lovely and then drop off the page...I can hope right? And if not...I am coming back in here with LOLCATS.
