Applejack : Apfel Junge (??? The direct translation is a little odd... what exactly is an "Applejack", isnt it something you can eat?)

"Applejack" is actually an alcoholic beverage (brandy distilled from hard cider), which makes it such a funny name for a pony!  But a great one!
Looking for CF Minty, excellent condition! (and maybe Snuzzle and Blue Belle)

I recently got a 3D Colouring book of MLP FIM. There's text under each colouring page. I noticed that some of the ponies got different (and straaange names) now Im wondering if the mane six also got other names in other countries. I would like to write them down. :)

English:

- Fluttershy
- Rainbow Dash
- Twilight Sparkle
- Rarity
- Pinkie Pie
- Applejack

Dutch:

- Flitseflientje (No idea what that means)
- Regenboogje (Means small rainbow)
- Twilight Sparkle
- Rarity
- Lekkerbekje (A dutch baked fish meal, or someone who likes much and tasty food)
- Appelflap (Turnover with apple, popular dutch apple snack, most of the time consumed during new year)
Those are the Dutch names of the G3 versions. Back than they did translate most of the names. (Notice how Twilight didn't appear in G3 and her name is not translated.) Very odd that they used those names in that book. O.o

I think there's no more translated character names because of trademark issues... It's a pity in my opinion! When I was a kid, Spider-Man was still Hämähäkkimies in Finland...

Anyway, I just had to translate G4 Mane Six' names into Finnish and ended up laughing out loud :D I think you'll find these strange enough! And all you Finnish pony people, can you think of better ones?

- Fluttershy: Ujo Lepatus
- Rainbow Dash: Sateenkaarivilaus
- Twilight Sparkle: Iltaruskon Kimallus
- Rarity: Harvinaisuus
- Pinkie Pie: Vaaleanpunainen Piiras  :yucky:
- Applejack: Omenaviina

(Oh dear, I've got too much time on my hands!)

I love seeing the different names.  Appleflap is definitely my favorite- it kind of sounds like an apple pancake...  yum!

Applejack is a distilled spirit.   It was made by freeze distillation of apple cider.  People would put the cider outside and in the morning pour off all the liquid that didn't freeze.  Because it has a lower freezing point than water the alcohol would be concentrated in the unfrozen portion.  I don't think applejack is made in this way anymore though because it leaves in all the harmful chemicals like acetone rather than fractionating them off like steam distillation.

I love "Lekkerbekje", it sounds so cute, and reminds me of German G1 "Apfelbaeckchen" for Applejack. Adorable!
