How did the TE Ponies get their eyes?

I was born in the G3 Era, and only found out about G1s this year. I'm crazy over sparkly stuff, so it seems only fitting that I fell in love with TEs.

I remember somesone saying something about how they got their eyes? I can't really remember. But if you know the story, please share it! Or if you have the backcards, please share their stories with me! Thank you!

The G1 version of Applejack kicks the wizard into the center of the Earth (yeah!) and frees them; the jewels stick to their eyes and allow them to finally see.

Well, i mean there's also....I think it's Moonstone who puts a sleeping spell on one of the other ponies? Freaky!! But I have to say, I have more respect for the Te's and Applejack now...but she was always the hero then, wasn't she

there is a little german book, its called Die Geschichte der Augensternponys (The Story of the Twinkle Eyed Ponies) and it tells about how they got their names... and I guess its a little info about how they got their eyes as well.

Its a story about Applejack and how she met the Twinkle Eyed Ponies. Applejack annoyed the other ponies with her typical clumsiness one day and not to make the whole thing worse, she decided to take a walk, away from the other ponies. She then came to the entrace of a cave and met a scary wizard in there. The wizard grabbed her and forced her to work for him in his jewel mine, together with his other slaves which turned out to be ponies, too! Applejack was    bewildered by the strange behaviour of those ponies. They had their eyes closed and worked without talking in the deep silence of the cave. She felt very sorry for those poor ponies who told her that they werent even able to see anymore because they had been inside the dark cave for such a long time. AJ decided to free them at any cost and so she attacked the wizard with her hooves, destroyed his throne and made the bottom of the cave break up. The wizard fell into the break and the ponies were able to flee! Outside AJ discovered that the eyes of her new friends sparkled like the jewels from the cave!
"Wie schön, eure Augen glitzern ja wie Sterne!" ("How beautiful, your eyes sparkle like stars!") "Und so kamen die Augensternponys zu ihrem Namen" ("And thats how the Twinkle Eyed Ponies got their name!") ... gotta tell, the Twinkle Eyed Ponies are called Augensternponys in Germany, Augenstern translates to "eye star" or something and its also the word for a beloved person or someone who is special to you.
Btw, they were able to see as soon as AJ had discovered that their eyes sparkled like jewels.

I guess, in the end the TE ponies got rewarded with beautiful eye-jewels for all the work they had to do in the story. That might be why they have jewel-eyes In fact its left out why and how exactly they got these kind of eyes *sigh*. Its another one of those stories that just has an end and nothing more. Like "Yay, we´re free and we have diamond eyes, wooho." No why, no how, no nothing lol... but great story in all. Leaves some room for imagination.

so is this an episode on one of the cartoons I have then that I need to watch
I haven't watched my dvds in ages so I can't recall all the stories on them
