Bit of an over kill!!
« on: October 02, 2013, 06:14:56 AM »
I thought this was so funny. tomorrow I have a job interview.

Please note it is for a saturday job, just more or less mucking out and exercising a few horses at the local college.

So here is the funny part the interview consists of 1 hour riding assessment, followed by another hour stable management session and finally a panel interview.

all for 3 hours a week.

I did not have that much of an interview when I started to manage the hunt yard that one was literally "get on that horse and jump that fence."  followed by "do you know how to do this and that. and can you give any references." and that was for doing over 50 hours a week.

umm i could be missing something. oh well at least I get to ride a new horse tomorrow.

That's pretty thorough!  Maybe it's just standard procedure for all new folks.

*shrugs* I'd probably make interviewees jump through hoops to be around my animals.

Hopefully it will be a fun :) Maybe they are making the interview that long to see if some other candidates decide it isn't worth their time and flake out. That or the 3 hours are more about getting to know you and your character. Good luck!

Wow, guess they really want to make sure of who they hire.

That or they mixed up which job it's for.

Hm! Is there a chance of them increasing your hours? Maybe it's for the future. Seems a bit much!

there will be the odd cover but nothing major i hope I already have a full time job this is for a bit of extra cash

*shrugs* I'd probably make interviewees jump through hoops to be around my animals.

ha ha 3 hours with my animals and they would be running in the opposite direction.

Hopefully it will be a fun :) Maybe they are making the interview that long to see if some other candidates decide it isn't worth their time and flake out. That or the 3 hours are more about getting to know you and your character. Good luck!

ah but a college has to do everything the 'correct' BHS way whereas private yards look at things differently

oh man, I better get the job after the afternoon I have just had.

first riding well that was interesting. sudden stops and hand break turns. just told my friend who also works on the yard who they put me on and well she just laughed.

to be fair the horse went well for at least a couple of minutes then the seary jump wings tried to eat her and someone went rolling over her neck and on to my now very sore back side. well someone needs to teach horses children and teenagers bounce, people that have being riding for 20 years don't anyway..  got back on. jumped a small jump then went on the diagonal and to the next one. not happening it bolted its self to the ground and would not move. so nearly strangled the horse there and then. but we got over it eventually.

then on to the lunging part of the interview. to be fair he was lovely to lunge but nips so I now have a bruise on my arm coming up very nicely.

followed by putting on a bandage the "correct way" not done that in years my boys just have then thrown on. if they were right..... i think they were ok but not the best in the world.

then the panne interview..... that was fine I don't think I gave them the answers they were after but at least I answered everything.

So in all painful day now I need a long bath and some sort of alcoholic beverage

:drunk:  though the sad thing was that I actually enjoyed the riding part (minus the fall)

 :beerchug: cheers

I have no idea what is int he water or something!

mum has 30 years managing experience but doenst work because her store closed down.

For a seasonal minimum wage job inside old navy, she was interviewed on the spot infront of customers upon handing a resume, then she had to go for an 'audition', and THEN if they like her they will call her in for another interview.

Seriously.  what happened to the single interview thing?    I get it if it was for a higher rank job, but that's overkill!
