I've been hacking thru the tall grass in Flarewing's safari for the past 3 hours, just hoping for a shiny Ponyta....still a no go, but I am determined!

I've been hacking thru the tall grass in Flarewing's safari for the past 3 hours, just hoping for a shiny Ponyta....still a no go, but I am determined! 

Good luck! I want to get a hold of shinies of Ponyta and Rapidash someday. My Mom once told me she admires my patience for doing tedious tasks. Hunting shiny Pokémon is perfect for me. Plug earphones into the 3DS to help me listen for the sparkle sound of a shiny, run/cycle in grass and run from non-shinies till I find the shiny I want. I browse the Internet while hunting and glance at the 3DS when I encounter a wild Pokémon.

Both of my shinies were found on Route 22.

Do you just want around randomly in the grass until you find one?  Or is there a certain way you have to do it?  I've heard of 'chaining' and in one of the past games I tried it, with no luck and it was indeed tedious.    I may not have done it correctly, as the biggest 'chain' I got was something like sixteen.  Blah!

Can anyone tell me what my safari is? I have long been curious. I'm John or Jean or Naomi or Aubri I have no idea what I appear as in other games.

I just got a braixen/growlithe and a charmeleon/growlithe safari with my latest friend adds.
