Thoughts on this girl? (Updated)

I came across this... I dunno what's going on here.. ?  Has anyone seen this, or any others like her?

Think her hair has been exceptionally YELLOWED with age/dirt. She's got the start of tail rust, so this seems highly likely. Poor gal.

Unless, as Dusky says, she's a variant. Strange, I hadn't considered that.

That hair colour looks like it's consistent, so it may be dye or coloured-in, but also may be a yellow variant. I don't know Powder variants well enough to comment, perhaps she's French?

French ponies never had glittery symbols I'd imagine it's either awful rust or a factory error. It looks darker around the base of her tail, so my gut instinct would be rust.

The seller says it's a Hong Kong pony. They did say that it has tail rust but I've never seen tail rust discolor hair so evenly. How would you dye the original hair on the pony without staining her body?? It would be a lot of work, wouldn't it?

pop her head off and peek inside, if the hair is yellow there too its probably a variant. how do her mane plug holes look? are they stained on their edges?

She has tail rust, you can see it round her tail hole.

I would think her hair is either horribly discoloured or has been coloured in.

When she gets here I will pop her head off, 'twill be "Off with 'er head!"  If there are stains around the plug holes, how will I be able to tell if it's from the tail rust, or from a dye job? I am scratching my head on that one...

I have seen that happen before - when the rust is extreme it literally can stain the hair. It will do it evenly and completely. She was probably wet after being rusty so the water would have meant the rust colour got all over her.

Hmm, I guess she'll be in need of a real good shampoo to see what will wash out. Her smell might also give me clues. If she smells like chemicals/ammonia, she'll have had a dye job. If it's musty/damp, then she's badly rust stained. Can't wait to see what will come out

Either way she looks nice with yellow!  In the upper part of her tail it seems there's still some white hair.

So curious to know what's with Powder!

if its from rust she will be extremely rusty on the inside of her body too plus on the inside of her head (my rusty ponies always had rust flocks all over on the inside and in the hair inside the head). if its dye it may has stained the hole edges as they are always in contact w the dyed hair.

She's cute, hmm I am taking a guess that her hair is dyed. It is possible to dye a pony without getting it on the body it will be interesting to see when she arrives and you look inside of her
