Intros are magic
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:09:55 PM »
Hello! It's nice to be able to say hi!

I'm a 29 year old Master's student/part time lab worker. When I was much younger, I loved the Gen 1 pony show and had quite a collection that I would regularly use to either reenact scenes from the cartoon or clog up the bathtub drain when their hair had fallen out. Unfortunately, I moved cross country when I was 9 and most of them didn't get to come with me.

Fast forward to this year when a very good friend of mine who also frequents this forum (sailorstitch) helped me reconnect with my old toys by browsing her collection and price guide (as well as exasperating my parents when I showed them the prices of some of the stuff we sold. They still remembered too!) After going to the Indianapolis Pony Fair with her when it came by and having a good time looking around, plus having a lot of fun demoing both the minis game and the card game at Gencon, I felt it was time to become a member. I plan on becoming a guru regarding the TCG when I have the chance following the official release, and maybe even collecting some oddball things I like along the way that I don't already have.

Anyway, hope that was long enough. Thanks for having me!

I got my very first "old friend" in Firefly and she's in superb shape. I had some very nice ones that I'll have to spend considerable resources replacing, but we will see what happens.

I'm thinking Fizzie, Wind Whistler, and Shady will be next. Those were my fav from the show/movie.

Welcome to the Arena

I'm glad you managed to track down a replacement Firefly.  Good luck finding the others to go with her too :)

I had the day off not long ago and found a TROVE of old 80s cartoons on youtube/hulu. I have them all on VHS somewhere but I never replaced my cassette player after it busted in high school. Care Bears in Wonderland/MLP vs the Smooze were my latest views. I used to watch them all the time at my Grandma's as a family tradition.

I'm going to turn you into a collector one way or another!

That's a good starting point. You don't want to start with ones like Hollywood, Mimic, or the lavender Dream Castle. I'll never forget the look on your dad's face when I told him what that version of Dream Castle goes for. I swear he looked like this...  And I was like this...  :lmao:

For those of you who were at the Fair this year, ThatGuyKenai was the guy that was watching my booth for me.
