i first read about G4 a few months before ANY  public reveals (like, no toys. no art. no nothin) and was very very excited. waited around for that entire year and kinda forgot about it till suddenly i saw Twilight on a site i frequent... i was pretty upset at how she looked and didnt want anything to do with the show. after a year and a bit my friends made me watch a few eps and i decided they were actually pretty cool

I found out about the show... late March 2011. September 2011, I started collecting the G4 as I've always loved MLP. And I needed something to replace my given away G3 brushables.

Instant Love.

As someone who adores that stylized Hard Line Animation (I'm a 90's kid. Shows like Dex's Lab, Power Puff Girls, Samurai Jack and Clone High WERE my childhood).  The show had me hooked on from the first episode with its well written dialogue, likable characters, fantastic setting and amazing animation.

In fact. It was G4 MLP that got me into G1-G3 collecting. And it got me into the floodgates for Monster High, Ever After High and Novi Stars.

(I still don't get the whole "deer" accusation. Is it the big eyes?)

When I first saw the show, I described it to a friend as "My Little Pony meets Powerfuff Girls."  I didn't even know how right I was!  I didn't find out about Lauren Faust until later.

I grew up with G1, so of course I love them the most.  I like G4, but the quality isn't nearly as good.  The style is OK, nice as something different, though I never cared for the flat eyes.  But really, I'm just glad MLP is still going after 30 years.  Whatever keeps the line alive is fine by me.

Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

At first I thought they looked great but that I would only collect the ones which were remakes of G1 characters, such as Applejack and Spike from the first collector set. That soon changed to collecting most of the ponies and a lot of pony figures from various merch lines :P

From the moment I saw the first promo-pic I was sold. They looked so mutch "anime" to me and I could'nt wait for them to get out! :) Then I learned that they were designed by Lauren Faust and went even more crazy about them! :)

My first reaction was, "those are ponies?! These are the result of deer mating with mice."

I thought they looked like deer-  except I thought Applejack was cute since she looked like the old version, and the set she came with was cute.  I thought the bigger ones were cuter, but way too expensive.

I didn't really start liking them until I started watching the show I guess.

I thought they were cute, but they didn't look like ponies.  I didn't buy any until I saw the show a year or two later.

this!
i think they look like ponies.
the g1 look more like horses
g2 um model horses with really long legs
g3 look like diva horses that have a lot to prove.

i think its really interesting how ponies evolved over the years.
g2 seem to be a take off from the g1 "sister" ponies.
where g3 are a cuter, rounder more attitude g1s.
g3.5 seems like the transition between g3 and g4.
almost like. where else are you going to go with them after that?

I'm sorry, i don't know many ponies with a nearly non existent nuzzle. XP
So i'm not sure how G4 ponies look more like actual ponies than G1 ponies do.

but it's totally understand that some people don't. not trying to convert anyone.
