I'd love to see a friend of Barbie with that body style! The more body types in my collection, the better.
(Otherwise, I think the 'change Barbie' crusaders need to pay more attention to the *real* women kids see in pop culture.)

O_o; It looks kinda weird to me, but I can't figure out why. But to me, there is no "average" woman. I mean, you could still look at this doll and be like "Oh, I'm flat chested, and have a flat butt... why don't I look like Barbie".

Basically saying, I could care less, to be honest. I knew as a kid I didn't look like "normal barbie" and I also didn't look like "average barbie". But I think dolls tend to have exaggerated parts anyway.

I'm not a fan of the term "normal Barbie" that this guy coined, but I'd love to see more Barbie dolls in all sorts of heights and sizes.

Bigger head and longer neck to fit in better with the average doll and I'm sold. Those two things tend to come out "stumpy" looking on dolls with human measurements,  I find. She'd be easier to sew for, too, because the pattern pieces won't be as small and fiddly.

I really like the barbie, but her neck is a smidge short and thick for my liking. It almost looks like she has no neck. Other than that she's very nice!

I don't know.  Girls come in all shapes and sizes and I know I didn't look like either.  My sister was a gorgeous slender teen and my best friend was a size 0.  I was a size 3.  It wasn't barbie that made me self-conscience.   I got over it in college, but I do think girls would benefit better to learn to love themselves, know that they are loved and lovable and not compare themselves to others.  I think we place a lot of emphasis on beauty as a society.  That girls "must be beautiful to be liked" and I think that's where we go most wrong because feeling beautiful should not be where most of our self-esteem is tied up.

I agree on the "normal" term used considering that there are all shapes and sizes...I just find it neat as a comparison. I have my own body confidence issues, but I know that I didn't get it from comparing myself to Barbie. As I have gotten older though I know that Barbie's proportions are definitely not of the "norm". I even heard/read somewhere that if Barbie was real she wouldn't be able to give carry or give birth to a child safely. I am not sure how accurate that is, but I did find it interesting.
