Hi all!

So, I bought a terrible lot, because I'm stupid... and all the ponies needed MASSIVE amounts of work.

The one I had the most issue with was a Baby Princess Sparkle that was in there, and I'm sure some of you saw this lot (and know how stupidly I overpaid for it, DANGIT  >_<) - but anyway... I've been working on trying to restore this gal, as I know she's not the most common pony in the world.

Here's the photo from the auction:

Scary endeavor - when I got her, my fears were a bit subsided as I was correct in that she was covered in sparkly gold paint. I immediately went about getting this off of her body, and removing that awful hair. Her body was full of rust on the inside, and there was nothing that could be done about her hair.

So, here's where I'm at:

Now, some of the rubs on her symbol were already there, as I didn't really bother with trying to mess around with her symbols much... but you can see they have thorough actual glitter loss, and so does her star. Her eyelashes were the victim of my removal of the gold paint, so she's lacking a bit of eyelashes...

So what I'm looking for is advice on how to finish this gal up...

-Should I opt to leave her body and symbols the way they look now and rehair her to as close to original as possible (pink w/ tri color tinsel?)
-Should I have the symbols and eyes "restored" and rehair her originally?
-Should I alternately rehair her (to be sold)?

Any suggestions? There was no saving this gal, and the value isn't as important to me, but, I am not sure what people would be more interested in adding to their herd if I decided to get rid of her... ?
Thanks!

EDIT 7/18
So I have fixed up her hair now - It took me a long time to find tinsel that could pass for her original colors, and instead of Pussycat, I decided to use Brilliant Pussycat, to give her more zazz.

Here she is now:

So now I need some advice as to how to fix up her symbols. I've never done any glitter restoration, but she she's already 1/2 restored with new hair, I figure I'll go the full 100% on her and try to fix her up.
Here's her symbols (her head star needs fixing too):

The only craft stores I have easy access to are Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann Fabrics, so, could someone tell me what kind of glitter I should be looking for? (Brands? Colors?) - Microfine? Plain gold?
-Will I be able to find this dark purple? It seems kind of unique...

What kind of glue do I need to use to apply glitter? Do I need a small paint brush or toothpicks or... ??

Just any general advice on as to how to fix her up a bit more... (and please excuse all the marks on her body, she hasn't been cleaned thoroughly since I removed all the gold paint...) Thanks!

I definitely would restore the eyes and symbol... And probably rehair as close to the original as possible. :3

I agree with PandaBerry.
Restore eyes and symbol, rehair close to possible. I honestly love gals like this! Gives a bit of a challenge and effort in restore work :)

I agree with PandaBerryInSpace and sd_dreamcrystal.  Restore her as close as possible to how she's suppose to be.  I bet she'll be beautiful!

Thanks guys! I was lucky that gold paint hadn't stained her body...!

Does anyone have suggestions on where to get the tinsel? For her hair it seems like SUCH THIN TINSEL... thinner than the stuff for human hair extensions, but perhaps I'm wrong?

Microfine glitter is the way to go for restoring things like that... ? (I plan on practicing glitter restoration on a bait BEFORE her... as I've never tried that before...)

Great job getting off that paint! I think leaving the symbols and eyes [almost being complete] rehairing the original colors, would be neat... vintage type look. Through a quick search, came across this: http://www.hairflairs.com/content/buy-pro-hair-tinsel

Too bad it's not Christmas time.

For the tinsel, if you have a Jo Annes Fabric or Handcock fabrics near you (or any specialty fabric store I suppose other than walmart or hobby lobby) check to see if they carry the embroidery tinsel. I bought mine at Handcock fabrics since we don't have a Jo Anne's near here.

The spools compared to some DH hair

And a pony I had to use the Tinsel on (I didn't use a whole lot.. I don't care for Tinsel XD

I would say that is your best bet on the tinsel finding and using :)

I would try to fix her eyes and symbols.  :) I always use tinsel that is meant for fishing (thats all I know) and its perfect!

Before you rehair her, I would put at least her head outside for sun, to fix that head-body mismatch.

I recognize that lot! :)

I would go for a restoration on her, rather than an alternate re-hair or anything. She is looking good so far!

Yes Jo Annes is your best bet for suitable tinsel.

I am all in favour of a proper restore...but if it was me because she is so far gone I would be tempted to try something else. What about an enhanced Baby Princess Sparkle? So not changing her to a different pony but adding things to make her just that little bit unique. Perhaps her hair in purple/magenta, pink and gold, then add some extra features or even colours [perhaps some blue glitter detail] to the her symbol
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
