Fake G1 Spike toys. help!

hey everyone,

so when I was little I had this foam type squishy toys that I believe were in spikes mold (had the same pose and tongue sticking out), and ribbed  chest, and spikes.. also they were a bit smaller then the real hard plastic one. I had a red and blue one, no paint or details were added to them, just solid colors.. I was wondering if anyone knew what I was talking about? sadly, I remember i ripped the heads off of them and then threw them away . I remember they were given out at arcades and other places as a prize.. They were from the late 80's maybe early to mid 90's.

Maybe someone can help. I've been going crazy googling and ebay searching an nothing has come up. I remember seeing them in an oriental trading magazine too when I was a kid.. they had about 5 different colors.

I have these two (pictured with Spike for comparison) and they are SO SOFT. I've asked about them in the past with no luck on ID'ing them. I played with them with my ponies as a child in the 80's. I would love to know what they are and where I can get more
