What's Your Splurge?
« on: June 18, 2013, 08:51:48 PM »
A little while ago I was watching the finale of The Voice. It was near the end and it got to the part where they thank their sponsors one of them being Starbucks. I started thinking about my coffee drinking habits and how much I'm willing to pay for my favorite Salted Caramel Mocha or Hazelnut Macchiato. (see how my mind works? ) Of course then I started thinking about other things I could buy with that $20 - $30 per month and realized how stupid it was for me to be paying $5 for a cup of coffee (my husband would choke if he knew I was going 1 - 2 times per week).

By the end of my thought process I had decided NOT to give up my guilty splurge. :P

So do you have something you splurge on that you know is dumb and you know you shouldn't be spending your money on it BUT you do anyway?
I know we all do it with ponies but I'm asking off topic. ;)

Lip gloss.  I usually buy a new one every few months.  Maybe that's not often enough to count as a "splurge," but I love trying different brands and shades.

paper and fabric.
or its more like any material for crafting, like ponyhair too. ;) but once i am in a textile-shop or a good paper-shop, its really hard not to spend more than 7 euros (10 dollar). so its more than your coffee, pop-girl. ;) and sometimes i go an visit these shops a couple of times a week too. ^^"
but how could you resist the perfect fabric or the perfect paper,.. for something you haven´t even planned yet. ;)

Craft supplies of any kind. Hubby has told me more than once that I don't need any more stuff. But I love it!

Actually other than the buying of ponies ect I don't. I try to focus my guilty splurging to one thing, so I guess if this month I went to sonic to get a ton of those vanilla dt. Dr peppers I love no ponies. I've done that though like last month I think. I splurge but singled out items per month.

You know......The honest answer is probably dog treats and toys. They have more toys than they know what to do with and more treats than they should be eating but I just like getting them presents.

Con*Tact Caffeine soap. I have a bunch of soaps and scent sticks, I just can't resist trying out new scents. The caffeine thing is dubious, I buy for the scents.

Anyone who is going to Everfree Northwest hit up their booth. You won't be disappointed. (And PM me, I might pay you to get their con exclusive scents!)

Candles and other smell good things..
Like the little tarts for the tart burners,
But they smell so good!!
I just love Yankee Candle
I tend to buy up loads when they're on special..
On the bright side, my room always smells like baked goods!

Hmm.. That's hard. I can't really 'splurge' as such, since I get £5 pocket money a week which comes mid-way through the month as a monthly sum ^^; I guess, nail polish, chocolate, face masks, hair masks, magazines, Costa Ice Cold Frappes (caramel and vanilla, but I'm cutting back on bad food pre-prom now, so bye bye caramel goodness!). But yes, they aren't 'splurges' as such, but if I have the money, I will often buy them, but no.1 splurge is definitely pony trades. Must have spent at least £500 in trade postage this year :( Beginning to think twice about it, and I'm considering quitting trading and buying for awhile, since buying car insurance and a car is more important, since it might be possible for me to get a car soon....

Other than collectibles (be it ponies, or other toys) I usually don't splurge on anything either.   I do sometimes spend a little on games though.   Lately it's been Farmville.  I am so addicted to it!  That is a true splurge for me!

I do get my dog the best dog food available, but I don't count that, since I see that as a basic need and providing the best I can for my 'little boy'.

Living alone I have to be careful with how much I spend, and I am still paying on my college loan too.   Once I get that paid off (should be this December or January) then I can save more money.   I still want to be careful of my spending though.  I don't want to buy everything just because I can afford it.  Because, if it takes away from saving then I really -can't- afford it!

I try to keep it to a minimum, but I've gotten a few tshirts from Walmart I didn't really need.

Then there's my books, but hubby and I both collect those. :) I do get my tea every morning at work ($1.60) which I am willing to give up should we get that desperate, but thankfully it hasn't come to that.
