Did Dexter Charming remind anyone else of Jackson?

Yes, that was my immediate reaction. Maybe it's just the same voice actor?

Dexter has a bit more of a manlier voice than Jackson's. Cindy Robinson does Jackson, but Evan Smith does Daring and Dexter. He's the voice of Gil and Deuce.

I didn't really mean his voice. It was more the way he acted that reminded me of Jackson.

This sounds interesting.  I love fantasy and fairy tale type stuff.  So, is this connected with Monster High or similar to it in that it's a different school with different students, etc.  Sorry I just happened to click on the link, not sure how long this has been posted.

The story is that Cupid is transferring from MH to Ever After High. Its where the children of fairytales go to school. There is also a website. I think its linked in the first post.

Gonna echo what other people have said thus far,

webisodes=love

dolls=ehhh....

I think Raven looks alright, but I really hope these are prototypes. Cause right now she's just not doing it for me at all. I feel like they used really cheap fabric too, they just don't look like MH quality.

I couldn't agree more! The webisodes were cool but the dolls are meh. I too hope they are just prototypes. They remind me of dollar store knock off princess dolls. I am happy however, that they are the same size of MH dolls so we can use their outfits. Will I buy them? Yes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees a touch I pinkie pie in Madeline hatter(I know pinkie has been referred to as a mad hatter in mlpfim)
Ughh yes! Just like those knock off princesses!! I really hope that changes, the outfit designs are so beautiful and this just isnt doing them justice.

I'm a bit weirded out by all the people here saying that they expected more from the dolls.
To me they look just like the webisode models. Is there something wrong with my eyes? XD

I expected them to be all same-face because that's how they are shown in the cartoon.
What I didn't expect, though, were painted on eyes. I legit hoped they would have inset eyes or at least eye lashes ^^#
Well, maybe they will be cheaper than MH. Like, MH budget doll price. I'd be very okay with that!

Also we should probably keep in mind that those photos are really blurry and shot from an inconvinient angle.
Maybe the dolls will look better once we can see better pics of them :)

PS: Oh boy, no matter where I look, people are comparing this product to Disney.
Newsflash, Disney didn't invent the tales those characters are based on! The characters don't even look like the Disney counterparts (except for Ashlynn having dark blonde hair)

PPS: Is it just me or are we supposed to root for the rebels? I don't see anyone identifying with Apple so far. Hehe!

Edit:
I really, really hope they will do a line based on those costumes here because holy *beep* they are clothing porn! And do I spy a little goth lolita amongst the crowd? The girl next to Cedar) Squee!

I bet Mattel came up with the idea for Ever After High while making the Scary Tales MH dolls.

I made a side by side comparison to show what my complaints are, since i'm able to express it much more succinctly visually then I would ever be able to do in words :) (plus why not when I have photoshop so readily at my disposal x3)

I straightened out the picture, then modified the head shape only slightly to be more like a frankie style head mold, and made the eyes bigger and wider with a less sultry expression.

Right now her head shape just reminds me way too much of merida from brave, which is this wide, round, persian-like face, like she smacked herself into a wall real hard and her whole face flattened out like a pancake XD And yes, it is like the show, but it seems too literal, too wide and round for me. Her animated face is a nice oval, not a pancake. Another big irk of mine is the evil/sultry expressions they give to all their dolls, so I modified her eyes to be less cleo like, and more Rochelle like :)

All really very tiny adjustments, and hopefully this head mold isnt final and the odd angle is making it look more stretched than it actually will be. Like you said, we have no idea where these crummy pictures are from at this point nor the stage of the prototypes, so let's just hope they make them nicer before their release.

And i don't know but rebel all the way baby!

Thanks, Rhini!

Maybe I just have lower standards but I would be okay with the faces as we can see them right now. Again, I also hope that the angle distorts them a bit because yes, they have something of 2.0 Lala. Very poofy faces.

A quick question to everyone who knows more about dolls than me: is it common that prototypes would already be shown in boxes? To give customers an overall impression of the product maybe?
Because I can't really buy the prototype theory right now. They look so.. finished to me because they're already packed up ^^#

Edit: Just my two cents on the ethnic diversity in EAH. I totally agree that even though most of the characters are based on Central-European and North-American tales/rhymes that doesn't mean they all have to be white. My expectations are always low in that regard so I can't get too upset about a lack of diversity, but that doesn't mean I don't wish for improvement.

Some folks in this thread have already pointed out that MH introduced more characters that weren't coded white as the series/brand progressed, so that's something I can hope for.
As much as I dislike most Disney adaptions, Princess and the Frog had a black protagonist even though the tale as we know it is most likely set in a Central-European environment. But they changed the story and the setting to make it work and that's something I really liked about that movie (I thought the movie itself was incredibly boring, but I'm not amongst the Disney Princess fanbase at all, so what do I know? Haha! I will always have a soft spot for Jasmine, though. Lady is perfect!)

Oh, and I don't want to be rude but can we please drop the term "political correctness"? This is a brand for all girls, I assume. Not just for the Caucasian ones :/
This is about representation, not about being as close to the "originals" as possible. "European" fairy tales, when closely examined, have their counterparts in almost all cultures.

Yeah, very puffy. But with that angle it's so hard to tell.

And yep! With a new line especially so. I actually am responsible for making prototype boxes like this all the time at work XD (accursed mockup boxes!!)  You want to be able to show the retailer as close to a finished product as possible, because ultimately they decide the fate of line, if they'll carry it or not :)

Thanks for clearing that up! I have much to learn *g*
But do you think I can still dream of inset eyes?
