i personally like the deflocks more than the ones with fur :D

Ditto, I deflock every sosoft that I get because they look so much prettier :) ( usually they are no where near mint, I don't deflock mint ones!)

In re: mustiness, I've had a lot of luck with a 20 minute vinegar soak after the first week of baking soda.  I had a fakie lot that reeked like the inside of an ashtray (I would have tried to restore the hair, but it was just SO nasty and matted that it didn't seem worth the bother) when I got it, to the point that I could hardly breathe when I opened the box.  Now, they're fresh and clean, and ready to be re-haired and/or re-painted.  :)

It doesn't seem to damage hair, either, though I don't know what it would do to flocking.

You should have no problem selling the so soft angel in that condition.  Once she's deflocked and has a good clean up she'll be just as pretty as any other deflocked pony and she'll have lots of admirers.  :)

Yeah, but I might leave the rest of the deflocking to an expert. She is a pretty pony, in spite of what I did to her! I might end up keeping Tootie Tails though, I'll see.

I would personally put her in a bag of bicarbonate of soda (I'd google it, it has a different name in the US and I forget what it's called! XD) It DEFINITELY improves ANY smell!

Good Luck, She's Lovely!!

They're both hanging out in plastic boxes with baking soda now.  :) They lead exciting lives.

Also if you are worried about moisture you can let them sit in rice as well :) if you pull their heads off you can put it on the inside and outside to pull a gob of moisture out of them even after you dry them off if you are looking to make them 100% perfect :D

I've had good luck with cleaning flocking with an oxy clean gel stick.  I smear it onto a q-tip and work VERY gently in small circles.  I rinse the pony under very gentle water and pat dry with a terrycloth towel, as fluffy a towel as I can find.

For odors, I always place the pony in a gallon ziplock bag with a neutrally scented dryer sheet.

Best of luck!

If I ever run across another so soft, I'll keep that in mind!

Do you think I should pull the other pony's head off? Keep in mind, I can't get Angel's head back on.

Did you try letting using some form of heat on the plastic part to maybe allow it to expand a little bit? In the winter if I am fixing pony heads I usually hold them near a little space heater to be able to get the heads back on. Some people also use boiling water etc.

I would suggest conditioner to make the flocking nice and soft again, but as Angel is beyond hope in the flocking department, there might be no point.

Partypony, what technique(s) do you use to remove flocking?  I have a Bangles with pretty terrible flocking but have had no success trying to rid her of the extra fuzz.

I've started using nail polish remover to deflock, after first giving them a good scrub with a nail brush and shampoo. I have one favourite nail polish remover - it doesn't seem to remove symbols unless you wipe hard, I'd strongly suggest trying a few different ones on some bait. mine is just from a discount store (Australians, I use the blue "pineapple scented" one from cheap as chips.)

And lots of patience!

I maybe would if they were in really poor condition to start with. Normally I wouldnt - as unless there are signs of problems I dont see the need to remove every pony head but due to their original condition it would perhaps be a good precaution.

Have you tried sugarsoap? Its great for removing flocking I have found.

Try putting her head back on like this:  Aim the head/neck plug at a diagonal angle into the body.  Squeeze together if you need to.  Once you have one little bit under the "lip", start rotating the head onto the body.  Sometimes you have to turn the body back and forth too, but it WILL go on!
