Aww congrats so much!  If your ring is too big, you can always buy a plastic ring guard (don't go with metal because it scratches your ring).  You can buy them at Claire's or the Icing in the mall.  If you can't find them, PM me and I'll send you some:). 

We sell quite a few promise rings to younger couples, and it's my understanding that you wear it on your left ring finger.  If you're afraid of people asking if you're engaged, them by all means wear it on your right hand.  But technically, it is a promise for marriage, so it does belong on your left hand:)

Congrats! I'm jealous. My man hasn't gotten me anything like that and we're just shy of 4 years together. If he were to give me one, I would wear it as a necklace.

Congrats on your anniversary!!!  I wore mine on my ring finger but my partner wore his around a necklace.  I think the important thing is to talk with your bf and tell him that you are worried about losing it.  Also, if you get a longer necklace to wear it on, it would be closer to your heart.

My promise ring was too small for most of my fingers, so I wore it on a necklace instead!  It had the same meaning and it was always with me.

I've had to wear my wedding & engagement rings on a necklace, so I don't think it's wrong to wear a promise ring the same way.

I always thought you wear the promise ring on the right hand.  I know that's where engagement rings are worn, but it's appropriate for promise rings too.  Again, so I remember learning...

I wear mine on my ring finger :> And he has one too and it makes him looked married but oh well. Keeps the ladies away! Hehe When we get engaged I will move it to my right hand ring finger ^^ I love the necklace idea though, super cute!

This is what we did as well (he had a ring as well) - both of our promise rings are on the right hand now.

I talked it over with my boyfriend and he has no problem with me wearing it as a necklace, but I can tell it makes him happy when I wear it as a ring, SO, I decided to wear it on my left ring finger when I'm not doing anything where I could potentially lose it, and if I'm running errands or going to the gym or horseback riding, or doing activities where I could lose it, I'll put it on a chain and wear it as a necklace. That way we're both happy, and I don't have to worry about losing it somewhere.

Glad you figured out what works for you! This is very similar to what I do:). I typically wear it On my left finger, but am in nursing school and constantly wearing gloves and such so I wear it on a chain at school

Congrats on your anniversary! 

My husband gave me one for our third anniversary, when we were just starting college.  It fit my right middle finger, so that's the finger I wore it on.  I don't really think you have to follow any "rules" with a promise ring, since it's symbolism is more for you and your BF than anyone else.

I'd wear it on any finger but the left ring finger.  I'd only wear it on the left ring finger if it meant you were "unofficially" engaged.

Congrats on your anniversary.  I always have worn mine on my right-hand ring finger, and I still wear it after being married for 3.5 years

I was not a ring person either when I got it, but you get used to wearing one pretty quickly!  Now if I have to take my 3 rings (promise, engagement and wedding, of course) off, my fingers feel naked LOL.

At the time I recieved my promise ring, I wore three rings almost every day: two on my right hand, and one on the left. I had just lost the one that I had been wearing on my left thumb, so that is where the promise ring went (It happened to fit best there, too  ). I no longer wear the other two rings, but I like my promise ring where it is, and that way I won't need to move it when my boyfriend and I become engaged
