What's with the freaky artwork for G4 ponies?

Has anyone else come across some rather freaky sexualized mlp artwork? I only ask as I saw a rather 'sexual' picture of Pinkie and Rainbow Dash on ebay, and another of a random pony in fetish gear. This kind of thing does not appeal to me at all as I don't see ponies in that way.

I just wondered if anyone else has seen similar and what they think? I don't like it myself and can't understand how anyone would think of a pony in that way even for jokes.

Is it just a minority? I remember someone saying artwork had been requested of Luna killing Celestia. Not that I'm discriminating here, I've just never seen or heard of anything like that before FiM. In fact before FiM I think I've only ever seen the zombie pony t-shirts.

Again I'm not bashing any fans of any genre, just noting what I've noticed

I think this sort of art has always been there, but with the popularity of FiM, there is more of it, so we see it now. I don't like it either- in my world, ponies don't kill, ponies don't get kinky, they're ponies. They are all that is good and innocent, and I like it that way. I totally understand that other people like it, but like scary movies or porn, I don't want to watch it so I don't.
I think it's like any other kind of art- some people like "Dogs Playing Poker," some don't. My husband and I are always getting into discussions about what qualifies as "good art" and what doesn't. He's much more liberal than I am with art- he loves abstract things, but I don't!

It's the fanbase. I'm rather concerned with people who create super violent/super sexualized art work of characters from children's shows and such. I consider it immature and pretty much "what's wrong with you! " type response to things like that. It makes my skin crawl. I equate it to people that like to draw nasty things in school books or bathroom stalls in school.

there's an expression 'one mans junk is another mans treasure' I guess that is appropriate for different interpretations on art.

I prefer to draw 'normal' images of ponies like Fizzy making bubbles and Gusty blowing them away with a gust of wind kind of thing.

Yeah, I never search for FiM pony stuff on Google anymore.   It's Rule 34 - if it exists, someone's got naughty thoughts about it.  (Double yikes!)  I personally prefer my ponies as, well, ponies - just the way they are on G1 backcards, frolicking around the meadow and prancing on clouds and stuff.

I've even stumbled across, er, vulgar FiM items up for sale on eBay... I have since become very particular about my search terms!

A simple explanation! Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it. Followed by Rule 35: If there is no porn then it will be created. G4 is a popular fan base full of people all ages, especially older audience members. I personally don't like that form of fan-art at, and I feel it is rather disrespectful towards the franchise. I most love fan art but the unwanted inappropriate images sometimes pop up on Google Images even with safe search on! =O

Yeah... FIM has attracted some sick and disgusting people. I tend to just glaze over it whenever I see things like that. I get sad though as this was pretty much the one hobby I had which didn't have anything like that associated with it.

This kind of artwork has been around for years. The sudden popularity of ponies has surprised me though.
Several artists well known for serious scifi art have abandoned paying work so they can draw rude pictures ponies!
Some of the stuff is quite sweet. Still of an adult nature, but funny rather than grotesque.

I'm not a true furry, but I know a lot of people who are. So... happy to answer any questions you might have.

Unfortuntely yes, I've come across it many times.    As a brony myself it really disgusts me and I'm sad that it gives the fanbase a bad name. It's pretty sick to take children's cartoon characters and sexualize them like that.

I mean, if you're going to do that, at least keep in off the internet or out of Google search x_x

Yep, just how the Internet works - once you put enough people together... You'll run into anything from My Little Pony to Transformers. All you can do is put SafeSearch on and scroll past the rest.

Google works via bots and algorithms, it's tough to make things un-Googleable, especially when everyone uses popular image hosting sites.

There's a group in every fandom who tends to give the rest of us a bad name. I don't tend to care or judge what other people do to entertain themselves so long as it doesn't hurt other people so I just ignore them and keep my safesearch on. Tis all you can really do.

I have run into so much stuff like this in all my fandoms that I am used to it and almost expect it. I am far from a prude and this stuff doesn't really bother me but sometimes it annoys me and I cannot explain why. It really disgusts me when they put the CMC in these pictures though.

Just gonna jump in here and say that the pony porn thing is only attractive to a minority.  Or at most, a... er, midority, I guess.   It's just something they do on the side, but they really do appreciate the wholesomeness of the show.  And they don't force it on anybody... unless you go to [edit ~ hathorcat].  Pony porn seems to be the only thing they agree on.

I've become so desensitized to porn over the past few years or so that I now treat it like any other artwork.  Is it a good style?  Is it colorful?  I'll admit, I actually like some of the more artistic nude pics I've seen; I saw one of humanized (or anthro, I can't remember) Chrysalis that I though was gorgeous!  There wasn't anything too sexual going on, she was just posing nude, and it was beautiful.

What I don't like about the whole situation is that people rant, rave, and bash on the pony porn community while the much larger Pokemon fandom can continue to sexualize the ten year-old female protagonists and the pokemon themselves and no one says anything about it. *facepalm*
