Hi there!  I'm cleverLC, you may have encountered me by this name on other doll-collector boards.  I also go by The_L and The_L1985 on other random corners of the Internet.

I collect (and am beginning to customize) MLP, Monster High, and American Girl merchandise.

I've had MLPs in my life as far back as I can remember.  As a wee one I had Winger Skydancer, Baby Brother Whirly Twirl, Fancy Pants Baby Starburst, Bride Pony, and the knockoff Remco unicorn with pink body/rainbow mane.  Skydancer is the only one of my childhood ponies left--my parents made me pick one to keep when I left for college, and the rest got trashed.   FiM got me back into ponies, and I've got a decent number of G4s because of it.

I occasionally pick up ponies I like from G1 and G4 to add to my collection, and I've also been stocking up on baits lately for customizing.

Aside from "buying back" childhood ponies I miss, I'm also eagerly waiting for alicorn TS to be available legally so I can have my G4 mane 6 up-to-date.  (I'm kind of OCD about that sort of thing.)

I live in sunny Florida with my miniature poodle.  I think sometimes he gets jealous of the ponies!

I got the idea to customize from a combination of seeing other people's customs and wondering what my OC pony would look like as a real toy.  I've re-painted her already (and, er, kinda goofed while cutting out her neck plug--G4's are tricky to take apart) and am just waiting on her new hair to arrive!

I've also got some other G4s and some nice fakies waiting to be customized.  I lucked out and got a merry-go-round fakie cheap because it had bad regrind.  I'm thinking of a full-body repaint on that one, as a display piece for my new cousin (she'll be born this summer).

Other than that, I'm not sure what I'll do, customs-wise.  I do need to fix up the seapony I won on eBay--her glue melted all over her, and she needs a Goo Gone treatment and another mane.  I'm not sure yet whether to restore her to her original appearance, or give her a different mane color.  It'll come to me, I guess.

Because, as an older teen, I was considered "too old for dolls," and had a dresser drawer full of Barbies, ponies, and accessories which I rarely played with anymore.  (I would take out the ponies and hold them when I was alone sometimes, but I didn't dare tell anyone about that.)  What few toys and books I managed to keep from my childhood, I managed with the cop-out of "I want to be able to give these toys to my own children someday."

It's only been about a year since I was able to admit to myself that there is NOTHING WRONG with an adult collecting, and even playing with, toys.  There is no maximum age on having fun, after all.  (I love how Lego expresses the "no maximum age" idea--their bucket of bricks has the ages 4-99 on the label.  Yeah, that sounds about right.)

Basically, my dad tried to shame me into being what he thought someone my age and intelligence level ought to be, instead of accepting me for the person I actually am.  Mom wasn't as bad about this, but she hates rocking the boat and basically let Dad convince me that there was something wrong with me for still liking my ponies.

By the way, I love your "evolution of MLP" avatar.  That's so cute!
