Foal Watch! UPDATE 4/4

So at the farm we are on foal watch - we are expecting three this spring/summer..

The first to pop is Sugar, she was field bred with our AMHA stud so we do not have an exact date but we know it will be any day now - although we all feel it should have been yesterday!

Here is Sugars Baby Belly! Please excuse her hair - she is malting every hour and her puff ball coat is coming out quicker then we can brush her!

We are hoping for a colt as we would like to keep him on the farm, and then we can geld him and turn him out with his mum and/or dad when he is old enough.

Will update you when the baby comes - and will post photos of our other mums to be soon!

UPDATE: APRIL 4th

Sugars baby was born early this morning. Due to complications during labour we lost her foal, but managed to save her. We are all heartbroken as is Sugar.

We will be giving Sugar lots of cuddles today, and just spending time with her - to make sure she is ok considering this tragedy.

Lol no joke! When our vet came two weeks ago for our annual farm visit for teeth, vaccinations, coggins, etc - we had one of our mares tested to confirm as she was not showing too much - and we came to Sugars stall and he said - Do you want this one tested - turned to him and said are you trying to say this how she looks on a normal day! He about fell over laughing.

We have not colour tested either of the horses - but I am almost sure it will be coloured - as to which colour... The stud comes from a very colourful line - throwing buckskins, palies, red bays, etc. So could be anything!

You should see her from the front - she is currently wider then my pregnant draught horse! - it is mental.. where as our other mini who is pregnant is all nice and petite, and has that skinny bump like the models and celebs get and loose the same week they have it..

UPDATE 31/3/13 - Day Unknown As This Has Gone On For Weeks...

NO BLOODY FOAL... again....

I just hope the baby comes before equine affaire, because I will be gone for two days showing our stud and mare... Need to make sure baby comes before that so that my family who is somewhat horse naive don't panic like headless chickens when it finally decides to come.. Thank god for mobile phones!
