Thanks everyone - it has been a rough morning - it is bitter sweet as we could have very well lost sugar - so we are all relieved and heart broken at the same time.

Poor old sugar has been crying out for her baby all morning

Ah that is so sad, sorry for your lose but glad you where able to save your mare.

Well Sugar is put up for the night, extra hay, extra grain, nice fuzzy stable blanket, and plenty of bedding so she has a good nights sleep.

I had her out eating grass, she broke out of her area while I was away down at the tractor barn cleaning the farm vehicle we use for mucking out off. When I was coming back up to the house I spotted her, and she ran down the back of the field by the house to the minis spring field. Almost  gave me a heart attack as she was gunning towards the lake, and goes right on the narrow dam down to where the donkeys are kept right now. I immediately went down the hill, and just as I get down there she darts back up to the barn where she came straight to me.

Then it clicked - even though she saw her baby dead, she thought there might be a chance that it was in the other field.. as she had no other motivation to go down there. She even checked in the field where our stud was today to see if he had it.

I swear.. This mare is something else, just wish I could bring her baby back for her.
