Two Questions....
« on: March 18, 2013, 05:00:12 PM »
My friend gave some CaM parts, including a skeleton girl head. But the head has little cracks on where it attaches to the neck. Is that weird or something else?

Question number two: I thought it would be awesome to try and make the daughter of a Lamborghini (A really expensive sports car). Her name would be Lariska Lamborghini and like the car, really fast at somethings and having expensive likes. I think I ought to go ahead and dive into making her, but I don't have a clue if it will come out good! So should I make her or not?

Hmm...I'm not sure about the CAM. Just be careful when you put the head on and off so that it doesn't get any worse!

As for the custom, go for it! What monster will be your base?

For the custom, I might use a were-wolf girl CaM, because she has no ears so I can sculpt them on. Thanks for the advice on how to avoid the cracking getting worse.

There is a product called Liquid Fusion that you can use to repair those tears.  In the future, before you take that head on and off, perhaps warm it up with a hairdryer to soften it first.

The CAM heads shouldn't crack like that if they are being used with CAM torsos.  I wonder if the person you got the head from had it on a regular doll and didn't heat the head before pulling it off the body :wonder:

Where would I get Liquid Fusion?

That is good to know, can you go the other way okay?  Or is it best not to switch things up like that?

I'm not saying you can't put a CAM head on a regular body, I'm just saying that head looks alittle manhandled   I don't think it would have become damaged if the person removing the head had used some heat to soften the vinyl first.  I use a heating pad.  This is all based on my assumptions, though   Maybe the previous owner did everything right, and this just happens.

To answer your question, either head can go on either body.  The CAM torso is made for easy swapping so no need for heat, but I always use heat on my Regular doll bodys (that pronged neck peg is killer!)

I think Cate just bought some Liquid Fusion.  I can't remember where she said she got it.  Let me take a look.....

EDIT:  Quote from Cate

And for CSA, I found the Liquid Fusion stuff from that Clawdeen tutorial at Joann Fabrics! Its like 6 bucks a bottle and it works AMAZINGLY!

EDIT AGAIN:

This is the thread that contains the tutorial she mentions:

I have started snipping the prongs off of the neck plugs of my normal dolls.. That green plug basically acts like a CAM neck plug once the prongs are gone. The base of it still pops into the neck and holds the head on well, and it makes for easy removal.

I know that doesn't solve the problem now, but maybe in the future it will help avoid it.
