I've heard that Hasbro sometimes checks this forum, here's hoping they see this idea I had:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I must say I really enjoy the Transformers Generations and Universe toy lines.  They are excellent. They give fans some neat figures to collect that aren't nessesarily in the current TV series or hollywood movies.
I just bought Grimlock and Blaster and look forward to getting Springer. These are all great "G1" characters presented as new toys.

I highly recommend that you give My Little Pony toy line the same treatment.  Please give us MLP characters from prior generations, like G1 Magic Star, Wind Whistler, Windy, Magesty, or even G3 ponies like Minty, as new toys to buy along side of the current Friendship is Magic releases.

You are doing it with Transformers and I think you would have much success if you also did it with MLP.  I understand that in some cases you no longer have trademark or copyright names, but I think the people buying MLP Generations would not mind small name changes.

What is the possibility of doing something like this?  I think it would be a financial success.

Thanks,

gabumon

Great idea. Maybe they will throw us a bone with the Fair exclusive pony this year and make it a G1 in a G4 mold.

It would be so cute to pick up a Fizzy or a Wind Whistler in the current mold. Hasbro has to know it would be successful. Weren't the Dolly Mix ponies a success?

Just saying, they have a great opportunity here.

They already do this, though, to the extent that they still have the trademarks or whatever. Have you looked at the blindbags? Gardenia Glow, Minty, Waterfire, Star Dasher, Dainty Daisy... it's almost non-stop G3 rereleases. Or there's Bumblesweet (and to a lesser extent Cupcake or Flower Wishes) in the playful pony lineup.

Exactly but in playful pony form with hair and different features instead of being the same 1-6 shapes over and over :(

ya I'm not sure blind bag homages really count.  These Transformers I mentioned: G1 Grimlock and Blaster... they are huge, regular size, fully articulated, light-up, everything awesome figures.  Not mass-produced repaints.  Granted, they cost the same as the current show figures, but I'm willing to pay $22, because it's Grimlock and he's awesome!

Hasbro has been running these concurrent prior-gen TF lines (Universe/Generations) since 2010, maybe earlier! I just hope they see this and take it in consideration.  We'd love it!  and when  I say love it,... I mean $$L$O$V$E$$ IT.

I second this! (or eighth it... whatever)

I think that if you bring in more characters (regardless of what generation they came from) collectors and kids would be chomping at the bit to get them. I know that from personal experience I have heard many parents not wanting to buy any more MLP toys because their children already have that pony. In fact, my own neice no longer collects ponies because of this (she has moved on to Disney Princesses instead) which makes me a little sad.

You can bring back more popular characters from the G3. Such as the remaining Core7 characters Starsong and Toola-Roola (these are the only 2 of the core7 not to be released in FIM) or other popular characters like Minty, Kimono, Desert Rose and Cotton Candy.

That would be pretty cool! I'd consider buying them. And I don't think the G3-as-blind-bags really count since those are only G3, which, since they're not that old, makes me think they're just reusing designs they already have trademarked rather than specifically targeting older fans.

I like this idea. I mean, if hasbro realized how many people do customs of this same exact idea, they might figure out what we already know......that they would sell. lol
