Cilantro: love it or hate it?
« on: February 25, 2013, 04:20:46 PM »
I'm watching an obscene amount of Food Network lately. ^^;

Anyway, what do y'all think? It's one or the other. Cilantro has no middle ground. Personally, I hate it. It's supposed to taste all bright and fresh, but to me it tastes like sweat and it contaminates everything it touches. :X

I like it. :) But then, I guess the Mexican restaurants I went to down in AZ used it in their recipes and I developed a taste for it.

I'm fine with it, I guess.  I only use it as an ingredient in certain dishes.  *shrugs*

I LOVE cilantro! I always have. I'm from Nebraska before anyone says it's because I'm from Phoenix. My sweat doesn't taste remotely like cilantro, so that one baffles me. :blink: I hate other things though, like asparagus.

I hate it now.  I tried making a beef stir fry that called for 1/4 fresh cilantro...which is a ridiculous amount.  I reread that recipe like 10 times thinking I was reading it wrong but no.  It permeated the entire dish and I couldn't even just pick the meat out and eat it.  I think it would have been good with a sprinkle but not 1/4 cup.  After that I couldn't even say the word cilantro for a long time without gagging lol.

I love it so much, in small quantities though. My fiance's late father used to over do it in dishes and I didn't like it, but after he passed my fiance got some to make some food and I was just "...Babe, you know I hat...." and he shoved a bite of food into my mouth and it was great xD! Though, my only vice with it is the green salsa Moe's Southwest Grill has, that has cilantro in it. I can drink that stuff, omg.

I highly dislike it, always have. I literally can't eat a dish if it has even the tiniest amount in it x-x

Not a big fan. I can handle it but wouldnt choose to eat it when given other options. So there is a middle I guess. I hate caraway. I absolutely love celery though.

lol My grandma tried growing cilantro in the garden once. We were sitting on the deck and the wind shifted. We both paused and looked at each other like "What the hell is that smell?" Needless to say, it was uprooted and disposed of that day.
