I'd have to say Salty :) He also happens to be the only non-Shining Armor boy I own/have ever seen in person though, so I don't have quite a great range of personal experience to draw from XD But I love his symbol and name, and mine had dry, frizzy hair when I got him...He definitely had the personality of a hardened old sailor :D And I just love his color scheme.

Of course I have my eye on Ice Crystal, though. We all know what a gorgeous guy he is!

Chief, but Sunburst is a close second.  .. .Sunburst would be TOP BOY if he was in Chiefs pose.  Chiefs pose is Bad. Flank.

Wigwam is the only boy I have, so I'm really fond of him. I like a lot of the Mountain Boys too, though. They all have great symbols and colour combos.

Baby Paws! I never had a boy pony as a kid, but I can't not choose a pony with Scottie dog on it. This one is on its way to me.  :biggrin:

Tornado... love the blue coat and mane color. He's the pony I refashioned into my ponysona in my Fanfics, Tornado Firehooves. If there was an old G1 boy pony I'd actually get, it'd be him!

G1s: Sunburst and Ice Crystal, but I am pretty much loving every mountain boy.
G2: Prince Firefly. Gorgeous colours!
G4:  That fashion style Shining Armor prototype with the really super long hair. Never has he looked so fabulous. And the minifigure Golden Grape. He is cute.

I am having trouble picking an overall favourite.

Hmmm... I forgot the blind bag ponies.   I love Golden Grape, Wave 4 Royal Riff, wave 4 Twilight Sky and especially wave 7 Cherry Fizzy.    Though I think I'll stick with Tex because of his brushable mane.
