Who shot Mr Burns?

So I watched an episode of the Simpsons today where Mr Burns blacks out the sun and someone shoots him.
Of course I haven't watched it in ages and no idea which season it was from.

Has anyone watched the following episode and can reveal what happened?

No he's fine. He tried to steal her lollipop but she wouldn't let go and somehow Burns' gun ended up in her hands and it went off.

I remember when my brother and I watched that when it was brand new. We pondered about who it was for a few minutes and then I asked, "who is the LEAST likely to do it?"  His reply, "the baby." So we nailed it. Naw, he didn't die.

But you know, if someone blocked out the sun from me, I'd have quite a fit myself.

I remember when this first aired, there was a contest on figuring out who it was and there were before show blips where the police were interviewing people. The show's producers actually wrote multiple endings so no one could leak it and then decided on two different endings and the final one was finally released on the finale. The alternate ending was Waylen Smithers, Mr. Burn's assistant.

Yup, Maggie did it.  They reveal a lot of clues in the second part that would have pointed to it, but they were blink-and-you-miss-them types.

Ahh the Simpsons. I love that show! We recently got a pvr so I've been pvring Simpsons like crazy.

but a lot of the clues were two-sided ... the M.S. could have been W.S. etc etc lol such a classic 2-parter ... i miss those kinds of shows lol

 In one of those episodes, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is playing at Moe's tavern, in another case of "blink-and-you-miss-it."

My boyfriend and I quote The Simpsons wayyyyyy too much (and KOTH, too). I re-watch every season at least one a year, I still remember when I saw my first episode when I was young'un. I miss Phil Hartman, though RIP you poor, talented dude.
