lol wow this brought me back! I was a little 'un when that season finale aired! I remember waiting all summer wondering "Who could it be...?" and eagerly waiting for next season's premiere. I didn't enter the sweepstakes because I didn't have a clue who it could be lol.

haha I love in the second part where they're revealing the shooter and going over the clues, and Lisa says "And so with your last effort you fell on the sundial, pointing your hands to M and S for Maggie Simpson..." And Burns is like "Huh?"

I think it was 7-Eleven or Butterfinger that had a call-in line to guess who, or maybe it was a mail-in sweepstakes I can't remember.

It was weird for me as a kid to have a comedy cartoon end on such a dead-serious note, they didn't wrap it up until the beginning of the nexr season 3 months later I think, I could be wrong.

I wasn't really a fan of the Simpsons for boring reasons I won't get into, but I loved that two-parter. The mystery was fun.

Oh, that's one's a classic. I wish they still made episodes like that. I do like the newer episodes, but the old ones were a lot more fun.

My favorite bit was when they used the real America's Most Wanted crew to introduce the second part, running it like the opening to a real AMW episode.

Oh, and my first guess was Flanders, on the grounds of "Always the last one you suspect," to quote the Devil Flanders...  Naturally, I was wrong.
