A friend recently got me into Friendship is Magic, which made me revisit my ponies I've had since I was little. It probably wouldn't have gone much further than that except for 2 things- 1) I had traded my Tex for a flutter pony a long time ago and have rather regretted it since (I now have a new Tex, yay!) and 2) Doodles is a twin.
Why 2 you might ask? Well, when I was maybe 6- I was playing with 'blue ABC' but suddenly, in the place I had left him... now he was pink! I thought I had gone insane and thus kept this pink one, never being able to find 'blue ABC' and subsequently SURE that a gnome had switched them, that there was a ghost child, or that he had spontaneously changed colors/sexes. Discovering that there were actually a blue AND a pink was a huge relief that I never knew I needed. My mother has since confirmed that she bought me the set (though she was super confused why I was asking). lol
So all that led me to eBay and I saw all the pretty ponies. I now remember playing with all the very first ones at my great-grandmother's house and that my brother's friend does customs (I tried to steal Anarchy Pony but my brother is too observant) and all the sites on how to restore them- so I'm getting a bit excited. I only really like G1 so far (for nostalgia) and I am probably the opposite of picky. Not a small number of my collection has haircuts, stains, frizzed hair, etc - one has a mildly chewed ear. I do enjoy making them look their best but the defects are kind of endearing. Especially the ones where I know the story of why they have the marks they do. I collect what strikes my fancy and I've been trying to round out my color palate and/or getting ones that I remember from childhood. Younger me was wild about purple, so that is over-represented. haha.
I also like Jurassic Park dinos and have a pretty solid collection of them from when I was a kid. Oh... and I'm a bit mad for Aibos, but that's not something you can collect with ease. Furbies are the next best robot pet- have abut 10 of them (very good for annoying your friends... though also a good way to get said friends to throw them down stairs... poor Noo-lah).
