Thrifting Spree!

I'm doing a 30 day pony challenge very soon, so today was one last hurrah before giving it up for a month. Struck GOLD at Value Village today for less than $20! I miss thrifting for ponies already. T_T

In 4 big bags I found:

• A cute rubber duckie. I seem to remember a member here that collects rubber duckies...
• Another of those hippo-faced fakies. White with red and blue hearts for a cutie mark. This one has iridescent tinsel in her hair!
• 2 Remco-looking fakies. One big, the other teeny.
• A little blue fakie with a great big head and tiny eyes. Kinda creepy...
• A g2 McDonald's Ivy. My first g2!
• 2 2011 McFluttershys. One for the collection, one for trade.
• A 2007 g3.5 McDesert Rose. I still don't like g3.5s, but this one is growing on me.
• 2 g3.5 Rainbow Dashes. They'll get a good wash, then it's straight to the trade list.
• g3 Rainbow Dash 3. I really like that pose!
• g3 Denim Blue. Dirty in places, but still has glitter!
• g3 Fizzy Pop. Beautiful girl, but it's gonna be a challenge to tame that tinsel.
• g3 Sno-Glo. Excellent condition. No marks on her at all!
• g3 Wishawhirl. What cool colors!
• g3 Daffidazey. Quite dirty and has had her tail chopped.
• g3 diva pose Wysteria. This one's too funny...I'll post a pic later.
• g3 Morning Monarch. MOAR GLITTER! MOAR TINSEL! I squeeeed out loud when I found her.


I'm still not done. Best of all, I scored a pair of g1s too! ROSEDUST and BABY LEAFY!!! Leafy has a nasty red mark his (her?) display side cutie mark, but I think I can touch it up. Rosedust needs some serious work. She's very dirty, wingless and tailless, but I love a project pony.

I left a few behind for other people too. For my fellow Calgarians, there's a g3 Scootaloo 3 at the Midnapore Value Village, loads of McPonies at the 32nd Ave location, and Chinook has a g3 Butterscotch (not sure which version) and a light blue breezie (couldn't see which one).

Wow, way to go!  Great job on the G3s.  I especially like Denim Blue, Fizzy Pop, and Sno-Glo.

18 days till I hit my local Village des Valeurs, and I'm champing at the bit already...   But before I leave then, I'm totally coming to re-read your post in hopes that your pony-hunting luck rubs off on me.

 Congrats!  Midnapore VV is HUGELY overpriced; I rarely stop in.    And really the thrift store pickings have gotten terrible.  Used to be able to buy dozens of G3 and McD for 3.99 a bag.  Last night I noticed that they have started single-bagging the horse toys.  One SSC horse $2.99, another separately for $2.99, a fakie by itself for $2.99... 

It just sucks that the employees in donations now are taught, "My Little Pony" means $$$$$$, not cheap plastic toys we have everywhere.

I agree, the Midnapore location is overpriced. I don't think I'll make the trek down there very often. $6 for a Scootaloo in a bag of Barbies that I don't want? No thanks. Chinook is where I find my gems.

My phone is charging, so the only pic I have right now is Wysteria right after taking her out of the bag. The diva pose is what makes this one awesome.

Wow, what a stroke of pony luck!!!  I can't believe you found all of those ponies at one store.  I ADORE that pic of Wysteria, btw!  Talk about diva!

It was actually 2 stores, but most of the girls were at one of them. When it rains, it pours, eh? 

I'm slowly but surely washing off surface dirt and taming tangled manes. The big red streak on Leafy's flank must have been crayon...it came right off with soapy water and a soft toothbrush! Now I just need to decide what to do with Rosedust.

She needs a new tail, but I don't think I could match her faded mane. As much as I love that subtle rose petal pink, I'm leaning toward rehairing her completely. My FS Fluttershy (another thrift store rescue in need of work) would make a perfect hair donor. I know I bought a FS Rainbow Dash just for the purpose of customizing into a Pony, but I've grown pretty attached to her so I might use Fluttershy instead.

Ahh...fixing them up is the best part of thrifting.

Congrats, a great haul and sorry but no way I would give up not going to thrifts.  You never know when you are gonna find gold.
