Dissapointed!
« on: January 02, 2013, 12:40:42 PM »
I had purchased a moc moonstone with my Christmas money. She is one of my favorite ponies and though the price was a little steep, I wanted her. Prior to purchasing I had asked a bunch of questions, especially regarding her symbols and if they were faded or not. I got a reply saying they didn't notice any fading and the bubble was intact, so I went ahead and bought her. She came today and I was exstatic until I noticed that the glitter is nearly gone and the silver is faded away! not to mention there is some mold growing inside. I am so bummed :(

What irks me is the seller deals in vintage action figures and I specifically asked about her symbols.

Sigh.

Was this on eBay? I think I looked at that same one and was also wondering how the symbols were. There was no photo of a direct view of them.

What a bummer :( I would be disappointed too!

Have you contacted the seller directly about it?

yeah, ebay. The symbols looked a little iffy in the pictures, but it could have been the lighting, that was why I had asked.

I did send them an email, just waiting for a response :)

That is very frustrating!  :(  Do you think it was a matter of bad lighting for the photos and the seller not knowing exactly what they were looking for, or do you think they purposely made the pony sound nicer than it was?  I hope they are able to communicate with you and resolve your problem!

I honestly believe they just aren't familiar with the pony. I showed the pony to my step dad who knows nothing about ponies and asked if he saw anything wrong. He pointed out the mold right away, but didn't realize there was anything wrong with the symbols until I showed him my mint moonstone and did a comparison, so I don't think it was intentional. For the amount of money I dropped, I was expecting the pony to be mint and unfortantly with the mold spots and faded symbols, it isn't going to work for me. I'm going to try and take a picture tomarrow to send the seller to show how the symbols should have been. hopefully, I'll be able to return for a refund.

I hope all goes well with the refund.  Some sellers are super understanding and apologetic, while others can be downright nasty.  Something similar happened to me when I bought an MOC So Soft pony.  The seller was only slightly difficult, but she still gave me a decent partial refund and things ended politely.  Good luck, and do let us know what happens!

The auction's pictures had a lot of glared and it was hard to tell if he light was bouncing off the glitter or not, which was why I inquired. But, yeah, it's pretty obvious in my pics. I'm still waiting for a response. IDK, am I being too picky? for the price I paid, I was expecting the pony to be in immaculate condition.

I see what you are saying now! WOW!! She sure does have alot of glitter loss! And looking at the auction it is hard to tell. Sorry about that mold spots also :( That is alot of money to put down to something that is missing that much of the symbol. I hope you hear back and they are nice about it.

You are not being too picky, for $150 a MOC like that had better be pristine! AND you did ask specifically about condition before hitting BIN. If I were in your shoes, I'd be upset and seeking a return for refund.

Now that I know the mold spot is there from your clear photograph, I can just barely see it in some of the sellers photographs. If you didn't mention it, I don't think I'd really notice the mold spots at all in the auction photos. If I were after that pony I would have done the same as you (asked further questions about condition). The fact you outright asked further questions before hitting BIN should hopefully weigh in your favor here with the sellers response... While they don't have to refund shipping on top of purchase price, in this case they really should as it is clearly their error. I do agree with you OP, it seems they are not overly familiar with MLP, and not out to scam- hopefully they end up having good customer service for you in the end.
