Kentucky Earthquake
« on: November 10, 2012, 10:07:31 AM »
About an hour ago, I was at the sink washing my hands before I got my husband's food out of the microwave when the entire house shuddered and there was all this banging sort of noise. We didn't know what it was especially since right next door my husband's mom hadn't felt a thing. Turns out there was a 4.3 earthquake in Whitesburg and we felt it. Seems like all of Kentucky felt it since my family is quite far away near Cincinnati and it rattled their screen door and knocked something off my sister's dresser. I know there's other Kentuckians on this board. Did any of you feel it? So weird and unreal.

True enough, that. My dad said the rehabilitation center my grandmother is staying at, noone felt anything either but a friend of mine near Louisville did.

That is crazy how one town has nothing while others next to it do!

Haven't heard of any injuries or major damage fortunately. Was more of a big surprise than anything else.

Weird, it must've not run to the East Side because I felt nothing. But when I lived in Covington, KY I felt that earthquake.  Glad you're okay!

Yikes.  It's scarey how often earthquakes seem to be occuring these days!

I definitely felt this....even the cats had a six sense....about 15 min before the quake started they started to meow.

I haven't heard anything about it, I guess no one in the New Haven - Bardstown area felt anything. I was actually asleep at the time anyways :P

Oddly enough, my cat only reacted when the quake was happening. Beforehand she was too busy slinking around after the guy who installed our HD cable box left sniffing where he'd been standing as she always does when a stranger leaves. =p

This sounds eerily similar to the quake I felt last year in NJ. My cats didn't give any signs of the pending quake so it was quite a surprise. It felt as though our house was going to tip over or something and that it took longer than it did. Not something I wanna go through again.

I felt a shutter but I live near trains and I didn't even think about it.

I am glad that everyone is ok. My biological dad lives right outside Whitesburg, KY. I haven't heard from him but I'm sure he is ok.
