I'm a huge fan of the anime Di Gi Charat.

I got into it two years ago, and took a slight break from it last year and now I'm addicted to it again. I even made a forum for it:

I doubt much other people here have even heard of DGC, since it was only ever popular in Japan, but I just decided to make this thread just in case there are fellow DGC fans here. Anyway, if you're wondering what it's about:

A young catgirl named Di Gi Charat (Dejiko for short, the princess of Planet Di Gi Charat), her friend Petit Charat (Puchiko for short), and their round, yellow gaurdian Gema, escape to Earth after their planet is attacked by the evil Black Gema Gema Gang of the neighnoring planet, Planet Analogue. Dejiko and the others crashland into Akihabara, a neighborhood in Tokyo.

Right away they realise that they are now homeless, and the manager of the nearby store of Gamers, lets them live in the top floor for free as long as they agree to work there. Dejiko meets another new worker at Gamers, Hikaru Usada, who perfers to be called Rabi~en~Rose. Usada hates it when people call her by her real name, and she immedeatly wants to be Dejiko's rival, as her and Dejiko both want to be idols when they grow up. Other characters include Minagawa Takurou (a normal 14 year old boy who has a crush on Usada), Kimura Takurou (a rich man who lives in a mansion with an odd obsession for Puchiko), and Takeshi and Yoshimi (two otakus who are fans of Dejiko).

The Summer Special introduces Piyoko, the leader of the Black Gema Gema Gang. And the Christmas Special introduces Rik, Ky, and Coo, members of the Black Gema Gema Gang. The BGGG try to kidnap Dejiko, so they can hold her for ransom to save their planet, Planet Analogue from povery.

Anyway, my favorite characters are the Black Gema Gema Gang. They're just awesome. So, yeah. I doubt there are other DGC fans here, but I just wanted to find out if there were.

It is. It's also pretty weird too. You can look it up on YouTube. The original series is only 16 episodes long with each episode being 3 minutes.

I'd reccomend it for people who like cute or random things. It's an odd series, but it's pretty good. I updated the original post to include a link to the first episode.

Wonder if the boys were poking at this.

It looks cute but the symopse confuses me so its not something id probably try to watch unless theres an actual storyline I can get into or theres something there that catches my eye

I personally hate the dubs the franchise recieved. The voices in the dub of the original annoyed the hell out of me. I suggest rewatching it subs. Much better.

I have heard of it and I love cutesy anime artwork, but I'm pretty confident I wouldn't like the actual series. I have never been a fan of the INSANELY saccharine cutesy stuff Japan likes (with a few exceptions like A Little Snowfairy Sugar anime) nor do I get most Japanese humor.

I'm more of a fan of anime/manga with a more serious or dramatic feeling to it. There are some light-hearted ones I do like, such as Azumanga Daioh, but there will still moments in even that one I was like...."Huh? That was supposed to be funny?"
